Hunting & Fishing Finally a buck on the ground !

Its been a tough hunting season so far in the midwest with little or no chase phase of the rut to speak of. I have only seen two deer this year that I would consider "Shooters". I love my guns but their is something about getting a buck in close that gets me all excited. Good luck to all of you the rest of the season.

Really nice buck you got there! Several people have commented to me that the rut seemed subdued this fall. Might be that the numbers of deer are way down and so the activity is less visible.

Thanks for the comments. I don't know if we are down to much in numbers from the EHD. I have seen some deer just not the activity and especially no activity out of the mature bucks.

The rut seems late here too. I think they're all bummed out because of the election results but that's just me.

Great buck. Baffled by the rut this year here to. I had some great bucks on camera and they seem to have vanished. Didn't even see small bucks pushing does around. Opening weekend here in Missouri was 20-30 mph winds for 3 straight days and temps near 70!

Havent hit him with a tape yet for an offical score. Some rough numbers are 21 wide G3's are 11, thanks to my wife who just had to know. His net will be crap with the broken off G4, he's a nice deer but I dont think he will score very well, He sure did eat good with some fresh loin steaks and he was a big boy.
