It seems to have been worth the wait. Basic FBI HRT rifle with Leupold Mk8 3.5-25. Just got a chance to test some loads, I think it has some promise. I made my usual addition to the cheek piece; it makes shooting much more enjoyable.

NICE RIFLE! I'd hate to see what it'll do with load development!!!! I like your "usual addition". Looks like you could take a nap on that thing! Care to elaborate what you did there? Sorry if you've stated before.

I build it up by using pipe insulation held on with spray adhesive. After that sets, I shape the foam, then add a thin layer of sheet foam like they have in the art section at wal-mart. When that is all set, I use spray adhesive to bond felt. I've found that it makes for a very comfy rest.

The Mk8 is very nice. I didn't see the great quality of the glass until I looked through it in low light conditions. The clarity was amazing then. The FFP thing is taking me a little to get used to, but in reality, as the reticle gets thicker, my target gets more defined. The feeling that the reticle is thick is just me adjusting to the increased zoom. I did notice that the elevation adjustment has hard stops at both ends of the turrets' travel, regardless of the actual position of the internals. Mounted with the scope set at mechanical zero, I was dead on elevation wise, and only 1 mil off on windage at 100 yards.

Now that I've swabbed most of the drool off of my keyboard... man, that is a nice rifle. I chuckled when you referred to it as a "basic" HRT rifle. That is the stuff dream are made of. Nice cheek piece and may have to try it for myself. Thanks for posting.
