Finding the right seating depth

Is the method recommended by Berger the best way to find the perfect seating depth?

I am loading a bonded hunting bullet in a new rifle and I am trying to get a load developed.

The bullet is a 165 grain hornady interbond and caliber is 30-338 win mag.

My initial fire forming loads shot great. Now not so great.

Depends. I dont usually do it like that, for a vld I would though.
