It seems my google/snipershide fu is weak. I coudln't find anything useful on firelapping, especially on an AR-10 style barrel.

I bought an eagle arms ar-10t upper during last years armalite Christmas special and want to get the most I can out of the barrel. First on the agenda is a cut to 20 in. (from 24) and crowning of the barrel.

Will firelapping do anything at all? I have an old set I never used from like 2003. The barrel IIRC is chrome moly, so a step down from the actual ar-10t model.

Thanks

HAVE a reason to do something like throat maintenance bullets ....or Final finish bullets.....

have you even shot this barrel yet....or are you looking for a nice shade of lipstick for your pig ?

Re: Fire lapping an Eagle arms ar-10t barrel

Hey, nothing wrong with lipstick on a pig.

Yea ive put around 500 rounds downrange with various fgmm 168, 175, TAP 168, and some prvi 175.

Best 5 shotters I can pull off at 200 yards is just a hair under 1 moa. Was hoping for a little better and just wondering if fire lapping can improve that any.

Thanks for the messages.

Load up and shoot a set of Tubbs final finish kit. If it improves, great, if not......well at least it wont hurt anything.

Is it coppering-up badly? It shouldn't after 500 rds. down the tube.

Other than that it sounds like it's already shooting pretty well. About all that you'll accomplish by firelapping is to shorten the throat life.
