Gunsmithing Firing pin protrusion gauge

I was at an AI class recently. They had a firing pin protrusion gauge that had a dial indicator on it. I am having a hard time finding one like that. Will this model work from brownwells ? Any help is appreciated.

Just get any old 0-1" depth micrometer.

A few can be had for $30 on fleaBay. e.g. Brown Sharpe Depth Mic | eBay or M G Tool Company 0 1 inch Depth Micrometer | eBay etc.

Yes. The brownells gauge will work fine too..

Unless your fitting 100s of bolts a day, as said. Just use calipers or a depth mic. Its just striker protrusion.

Thanks I appreciate the info. I did my best to check with a caliper. I could not keep a constant reading with it. The opening on the bolt face on my .338 is just a hair wider than the caliper.

Yes. The brownells gauge will work fine too..

I too have the brownells gauge and find it very useful
