Looking for recommendations on a borescope. After research, seems like you can spend a lot, or not much at all. As most, just looking for the best bang for the dollar.

Primary purpose is to focus attention on the throat area and make to monitor any change or Carbon ring.

I use Lyman borescope. Throat area, lands and any possible carbon ring would be very obvious. I have used it for about a year now and very satisfied for checking especially to verify cleaning method before/after. Based on your primary purpose I would recommend without hesitation. I do use the Delrin Guide made for my actions. https://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-...ls/borescopes/bore-scope-guide-prod54105.aspx

More than likely a normal bore guide would allow pass through. However I would want to help protect the camera end which includes the lamp from touching anything other than the Delrin bore guide which I think is about $20 if I remember correctly.
