I have a crf win 70 long action in 300wm. I have a 26"shilen on there, but the head space allows closing on a no-go gauge. I want to take the barrel, machine it for a full turn and rechamber. If my math is correct, I need to take off about .0416 from the barrel to make it go in one full turn. Does this sound right?

Also, if it were your rifle what would you do to it? how many turns to turn it down to a 300wsm? Thanks guys. Merry Christmas.

If your going to make it a 300 wsm then take off the entire thread tennon and rethread chamber, that will clean up the old 300wm chamber. Only if you have enough straight shank to do that. I would get a new barrel before doing that to a factory though.

Thanks Jim. It is a 26" shilen, but I am not sure if I would have enough to cut it all off and start from scratch.
