I am thinking about building a rifle on a custom long action. I am looking at the Zermatt Origin and the Terminus Zeus at the moment. I would really like a Mausingfield, but they don't seem to be available in long action anymore.

I am thinking of chambering it in either .25-06, 6.5-06 or another 6.5mm calibre but would like another barrel in either .338-06 or 9.3x62 for occasional overseas use.

I would ideally like to have a fixed magazine or at least the ability to top load the magazine but my concern is that whilst I am looking at similar cases, a BDL magazine might not feed correctly with two different calibres. The only alternative I can find would be a Sako 85 or 75 magazine, which are readily available, but I am not sure would feed correctly.

It seems that having several AICS magazines might be my only option, but I would be grateful for any thoughts.

Those should all work out of a standard BDL style fixed magazine if you use an Origin action.

I havent played with the zeus, but I suspect you’ll need a detachable box magazines with it, as their literature calls out AICS and AW magazines(no feed lips in the bottom cut) . Protruding magazines and no ability to top feed if you go that route.
