Flash Hole Prep?

Guys,

I have an Redding flash hole deburring tool that indexes off the neck. The instructions aren't really clear. Is the tool supposed uniform the hole as well as clean-up burrs extending from the flash hole into the case? The way the cutter's designed it will actually put a mild chamfer on the flash hole inside the casing. Is the chamfer desired or am I doing something wrong?

Chamfer is desired.
Think of it like the bell of a trumpet.
It effectivley ensures uniform ignition in the cartridge.

If it indexes off the neck, just make sure to uniformly trim your cases before you deburr and chamfer your flash holes.

I've trimmed the brass to the same length before uniforming the flash holes. I have some Nosler brass that had some serious burrs protruding into the case. A significant amout of shavings came out of the case. However, the chamfer did not appear to be too significant.

The resulting chamfer makes since but wanted get a consenus before I got too far along.

You only need to do this once to the brass, so do it! Trim brass to length first.
