Flat Top vs Factory Inletted Stock for Custom Build

I'm considering a custom build and been turned off by the long lead time for a Manners or McMillan stock. Flat-top McMillan stocks are available in a much shorter time from aftermarket suppliers so I was considering one of those - but I don't want to be sorry later that I didn't just wait for the completed stock from the manufacturer. So:

Is there any real difference in the end result (function, accuracy, appearance) between a stock inletted by McMillan for a specific action or one of their flat-tops inletted by a custom gunsmith?

Thanks,

Dave

IF (hypothetically) we were stocking your barreled action an uninletted blank would be one of the requirements. LRI is unique in that we inlet all of our own stocks specific to your action/barrel combination. Its 3d mapped in CAD and then 3D surface machined using multiaxis CNC. I don't bed guns the conventional way so it's much easier for me to just start from scratch.

It's best if you check with your chosen shop first. Many don't have the equipment resources to inlet a stock. (not if they want to make any money at it anyway)

Good luck and hope this helps.
