Gunsmithing Flush Cup installation

Anyone got a preferred way to bed in flush cup sling mounts to a McMillan A-5 stock using Devcon titanium putty? I noticed the outside of the cup is threaded. Any suggestions?

drill and tap the stock then use the bedding material to glue them permanent.
