Flying cattle cars

Meanwhile, close to 30k other commercial flights in the US didn't have this happen on the same day. I drive a shit ton too, and always drive over fly if the distance is under 10 hours, but I don't hesitate to exchange several days driving for half a day of air flight.

I also don't throw out a case of Eley because I have one flier round, or believe an entire industry is a wash because of one click bait article from the attention whorish mainstream media.

Is that Kalitta air? If so they be really good people to fly with if your going that way. I met Connie long ago at the US 30 Drag Strip an he was telling me about his plans to fly what other airlines would/or could not. Seen him at the summer nationals some years back an we talked about how he achieved his goals in life. One stand up guy.

Do the pilots pop chutes when landing?

They ship want others won't or can't, very interesting operation, also do a lot of specialized DOD stuff. Connie Kalitta is a very interesting person, an a math wizard. He did very well crunching numbers on his engine/chassis/traction control ect during his racing days, which lead him into load balance for A/C as well. Great guy to talk to a spend the afternoon with, unless he's racing then he's all business. LOL

At 6' and nearly another half, I resist the temptation to fly unless it's flatly impossible to make the trip any other way. It's not the TSA, it's the shoe box seats.

I flew with the family to Honolulu last Autumn, and only because there just ain't any roads going that way. The physical pain imposed by the egg crate seating made the entire first two days of my vacation honest agony. After dealing with the ADA customer service specialist pre-flight and being assured there would be extra legroom, I was assigned to the seat row just ahead of the exit row. The seat recliners in my row were locked in accordance with TSB regulations, and all I can imagine is that the service rep was a f*cking sadist.

Fly? No thanks; I'd rather swim with sharks, minus the cage.

^Yup. If you're over 6' flying is hell. Pure hell. There's literally no place to put your legs if you're not in an exit row. Add in the hurry/wait, delays, cancellations, the fat guy oozing into your space and sweating on you...and you pay a premium for the misery.

Still -- I don't have three days to drive across the continent or like you said, sometimes there aren't roads and I'm not getting on a boat.
