So quick question. Suppressor in my case with checked in rifle? Or suppressor in my back pack carry on and just my rifle in the checked in case? Flown with various firearms dozens of times but can recall having the suppressor with me. I would assume either way is okay but I have the thought I’d rather my TB be with me.

Supressor is a firearm. Checked baggage.

Regardless, airlines don’t allow any firearm parts in checked carryon baggage, including scopes and accessories.

??? Scopes are most certainly allowed in carry on. I log nearly 80k in airlines miles per year (frankly, I hate flying now. But work and matches) and always fly with my scope in my backpack. Never seen issue.

I’ll defer to this, but it conflicts with the sign I saw in the TSA line on Monday. Then again, maybe I’m dyslexic or becoming more forgetful. I fly a lot, but never with a firearm- so I haven’t paid a lot of attention to the rules.

What are you guys doing with your tripods? It won’t fit in my gun case or completely inside backpack.

I've always put my tripod in my checked suitcase, but I would imagine you could take it in your backpack/carry on. I've regularly taken my (cased) flyrod strapped to the outside of my backpack as carry on. TSA has never even looked at it.

A can is classified as a "firearm" and AFAIK, it has to be declared and checked, not carried on.

Cool,, thanks guys for the insight. I’ll keep it in the case with my rifle.
Don't forget a copy of your stamp because some dumbass TSA type is surely to freak out, power trip and involve the cops who will want to see it, I'm sure it would ruin your trip if you didn't produce it. Just sayin......

Yeah suppressor go in the rifle case. As others have described, you want to treat that item like a firearm.

Optics are kinda weird I’ve done both ways. The it oftentimes comes down to either the individual inspector not caring/knowing the law/regulations or being a dick. Easiest way to do this though is just leave it in the rifle case.

Things like tripods I often just strap to my carry on. Repeat after me: “I do photography…” 🙃

I got escorted by police out of the security line for having a couple of muzzle brakes in my carryon. Granted that was in Canada.

Keep your suppressor with your rifle.

I know I've had carry-on baggage with bump helmet, NODS, thermal scope, bipod, LRF Binos and tripod in it, and they didn't say a word.
