I have a FN PBR with the factory DBM, Hogue stock and 18" bbl. I toyed with the idea of putting it into a McRee, but I am in the middle of a custom R700 build so I am looking for a handy rifle in a wood stock. I am trying to convert my DBM to a hinged floor plate and put the action into a wooden stock to look a lot like the classic M40. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Also, if I do the hinged floor plate conversion, would the entire thing fit into a standard Win 70 stock?
I am looking for it to look a lot like rrflyer's:
