Ok, so I just got an FN SPR action from CDNN and I am planing on having a Douglas barrel installed by Douglas. The question is should I worry about not having the action " blueprinted" or " tuned" ?

Re: FN SPR question

OK, Thanks. Do you have any recommendations for a smith that will do good work on a Winchester action? And what do you reccomend that I have done?

Re: FN SPR question

I suggest you familiarize yoursef with the SEARCH function for this Site and read some of the myriad posts on this EXACT topic.

I assume you have never had a custom rifle built so rather than ask an open-ended question like this, and risk having a bunch of strangers tell you what to do, what may benefit you more is to do ALOT of research, and then, after you think you know what you want to do, ask questions.

Most importantly, take your time.

IMO the FN action is fantastic and you are off to a good start.

Re: FN SPR question

Duey,

I will second what 19Scout77 said about research. I LOVE my SPR actions for hunting guns and I did a lot of research whole subject of SPR's first. You will find many good smiths on this board can make them up RIGHT! I believe you will decide to blueprint the action after you do more research but I could be wrong.

Two of my favorites are GA Precision up in North Kansas City and
Aaron Einsel of Aaron's Guns in Greensburg, KS. They are both excellent Win M70/FN SPR 'smiths.

There are many others that can do a great job.

My .02,
Darin Reiss

Re: FN SPR question

I am going to buy one myself. i will put a shilen on it, as i have had great luck with Shilen barrels. This rifle will be for prairie dog popin and i will not have the action trued. I will most likely chamber the rifle for a 20BR. i dont see a needfor it in my case. Lee
