FN TSR XP vs. Patrol PBR XP in 300WSM

Re: FN TSR XP vs. Patrol PBR XP in 300WSM

The tsr appears to have an adjustable trigger. That is the only difference that I could see. I used to have a pbr xp in 308 and I had a timney trigger installed. Ironically it looked just like the tsr rifles at that point. Otherwise they seemed unchanged other than the trigger and a slight name change.

Re: FN TSR XP vs. Patrol PBR XP in 300WSM

It was explained to me today, by Bob at FN USA, that the TSR is really just the newer version of the PBR. The PBR was made somewhere in the Northeast (can't remember), and the TSR is made in South Carolina. Neither of them have chrome lined bores like their bigger brothers (SPRs). Also the triggers on the TSR are not as desireable as the SPRs.

He then told me, that all of the SPR's barreled actions are identical, the only difference is in the Stock and if it's bedded or not. I did not know that.

Hope this helps a little.

Re: FN TSR XP vs. Patrol PBR XP in 300WSM

The PBR-XP in .300 WSM is basically the same as the current TSR-XP in .300 WSM. The two differences are these:

1. The PBR was made in the US Repeating Arms Company (USRAC "Winchester")plant in New Haven Connecticut. The TSR is currenty made in the FN Manufacturing plant in Columbia, SC.

2. The PBR line had the same two-lever trigger of the SPR line. Both adjustable and very similar to the Winchester Model 70 trigger prior to 2006. The TSR line now carries the three-lever trigger of the newer M-70 line, called the MOA for Winchester and the TST for FNH. Again, both are adjustable.

Any aftermarket triggers installed for the TSR will have to be a replacement for the new M-70 trigger. PBRs and SPRs can be retrofitted by aftermarket triggers replacing the original M-70 triggers (pre-2006). The two triggers are not interchangable because of the pin spacing and the striker engagment.
