I'm interested in purchasing one of FN's Special Police Rifles. From what I understand the production quality control problems are no longer an issue.

I still would be interested to know if anyone has had any issues they had to resolve with FN lately and whether or not they were handled in a reasonably efficient manner. Like if you had to send a rifle back to get checked out for something did it take weeks or months or longer to get it back.

Re: FNH and customer service

I have had the best type of CS ever. . . . Thing was a lazer out of the box and has had nearly a thousand rounds through it in a few months with absolutely zero issues. This is an SPR A5 model. They say "only A3G is bedded" but my A5 had the recoil lug and tang bedded at the factory. Its good enough to make it shoot very very well.

The CS you don't have to use is the best kind. Granted I have only owned Two of their rifles, but I have been very happy.

Re: FNH and customer service

I've had 2 FN Rifles. 1st was a PBR XP and now an SPR A5. I can't speak of their customer service since I've never had to call, but the quality of my rifles have been top notch. Best group with my a5 was .2moa so far w/fgmm 168gr.

Re: FNH and customer service

slapping gongs with my FNH PBR today, about 1500rds through it and it still sub MOA. I pillar/glass bedded though. I haven't had one problem with this rifle.

Re: FNH and customer service

I was just searching around on this a couple days ago, and found this thread:

http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1519493

In a nustshell, user was firing reloads through his FN rifle. A lug sheared off the bolt head. He sent it to FN (admitted reloads) and after a solid wait, told him no warranty because his reloads caused it. They wanted $350ish for a new bolt....and a long wait for it back. He replied that they NEEDED to return his broken bolt to him (if he had to buy a new one) so that he could send it out for metalurgical testing. His rifle was sent back to him with a new bolt, without the old broken bolt, and happened very fast.

Re: FNH and customer service

I have had several conversations with one of the CSR's at FN. He is a friend of my uncle. I looked at several platforms before my FN SPR purchase. I have heard of a few instances where the FN CSR's were called and they handled the issues very well. I have not had an issue with my rifle to date. It is one of the first two hundred made. I know guys that have them and say the same thing. FN is a great company and has a great product. If you miss with an SPR its not the rifle!

Good luck!

I read the entire thread you referenced and about all I can say is; not the kind of experience with customer service I would like to have. Thank you for responding to my posts.

I once had what I can only describe as what appeared to be a hairline on my bolt face. You had to run accross it with a toothpick to feel it.

I emailed the vendor who sold me the rifle and asked it that was normal wear and tear. They knew I shoot my own reloads loaded on the high end of all manual recommendations because I'm shoot long range and need the extra velocity.

Well they called me back at the end of the day and said not to use it and that they just sent out a new bolt second day air. They referred to a link where I could print a return label for free and return my bolt to them.

The company that I dealt with was LaRue. So yes I am a very satisfied customer and have purchase a lot of merchandise from them even though they may have had something price a little higher elsewhere.

I don't believe would be satisfied with FN if I had some sort or issue.

I think I may have custom rifle built but before I do so I need to look into purchasing a TRG-22.

Re: FNH and customer service

So person gets a little push back from the company and write the whole thing off? I would do more research on your boy Larue before making him out to be the end-all-be-all of CS.

You said they "knew" you used supped up reloads, but you didnt tell them that directly did you? the hairline crack was most likely a manfacturing defect, what happened with the FN in the link could be 50/50 whether the reloads accelerated a factory defect. if i was FN, i would have initially told the guy the same thing, especially after seeing SOME people and how and what they reload (ie, picking copper jacket peices out of a deer antlers after the bullet fragmented in flight).

anyway, i own an SPR i built on and had a smith buddy of mine true the faces, recut the threads and lap the lugs. he told me that on FN rifles, its seldom needed and that everything was almost perfect as it was from the factory... Rem 700s on the other hand, take some tweeking.

i think if you dismiss an FN SPR you are severelly missing out and doing yourself a disservice. my two cents....

I’m only describing my own personal experience with them. They said it was most likely a flaw in the metal, I recall he said something about a small void in the metal when it was compressed when it was made, or something like that.

Absolutely told Alfred that I shot my own reloads on the high end of reloading manual; which are certainly not soup up by any means. I have found when a person is straight up and truthfull with a vendor the vendor appreciates that and will do their best to help the customer. At least that has been my experience.

Maybe so.

Right now I’m researching the Sako TRG-22. So far I’ve not read anything negative but I’m still looking. It seem like it may be a good choice for a long range target rifle.
