Cincinnati, Oh
I wanted to buy the FNX 45 tactical but was unable to track one down for a reasonable price. However, I was able to find the FNX 45. I would like to essentially turn my FNX 45 into the tactical. Would the tall suppressor sights from the FNP 45 tactical work on the FNX? Also does anyone have a threaded barrel for sale for the FNX? I've seen the the FNP threaded barrel for sale but it is my understanding that the FNX barrel is different than the FNP. Is this even possible right now? Thanks for any help.

My brother is doing the same thing and there is no way you are going to find a threaded barrel and high profile sights for under $200 not now anyway. He found trijicon sights for about $100 and a threaded barrel on gb is about $250. As far as in know fnx and tac45 are the same tac45 slide is milled for a red dot though.

FNP-45 Converted to Shoot Suppressed

Ok, so here's the deal. Find a good old FNX-45 or FNP-45 in black and drop in a .578x28RH threaded barrel from EFK Dragon Enterprises $224.99 (they are cheaper than Tornado Technologies and you keep your barrel) Then add some Trajicon High Sites from Ameriglo (Ameriglo.net) FN-329 (set) for FNX or FNF-45-452 and FNR-45-496 for FNP-45, both $109.00 for the set. Next, buy the $15 thread protector from FN, it has the best knurling of any I've seen. Also order the $85.00 soft case from FN. Now, this completes your pistol, however, you won't have the tactical slide. This is an FN Exchange Part only and must be fitted at the repair facility. That being said I will tell you that the whole holographic site stuff is worthless when you are shooting "wet" suppressed (pouring a bit of water into your suppressor to increase the quieting capability of the suppressor). Shooting dry is ok, but shooting wet cause a damn wet dirty powder mess on the optics, and the powder scratches the lens of the ($85 minimum) optic. The mess is the largest drawback because the design is sooooooo cool, but shooting wet is the wayyyy more quiet way to shoot 45 suppressed. Check out some Youtube vids for examples of wet and dry suppressed shooting. p45.jpg

Buy either a used FNP tactical or if you have a friend or family member who is Mil/LEO have them get you one of the FNX 45 tactical variants courtesy of FN's Mil/LEO program, nice discount and available in usually a week or two depending on your dealer.

-As far as the holographic being useless when shot wet, it actually works fine if you use wire pulling gel, which works better than water for wet suppression. Personally I just use the Osprey dry with the gel being great for the occasional fun factor. I love having an RMR on my FNX 45... Loved the LE pricing even more, $1000 for a completely brand new gun with a factory threaded barrel, milled slide, and tall night sights ready for a suppressor? Awesome deal if you can swing it.
