Since I had received the initial news of the happenings in Seattle, this very thing described above had been my first and worst fear, and it seems that the pessimist/realist in me is correct once again. The worst has happened, and it would be foolish for anyone observing this to think that it would not.
At the very least, I hope "Brandon", and those like him who live in the area realize the importance of the 2nd Amendment, RKBA, civilian gun ownership, and maintaining an optimal level of defensive gun training. In previous years, most fence sitters on the gun debate as well as Fudds who thought that the government will never touch their "grandpappy's old deer rifle" always thought that bad things only happen in more rural and isolated areas. "If you live in the city, the police will protect you. You do not need a gun for defense"...
Unfortunately, for the residents who had drew the shit lottery in this episode, their local police not only did not "protect" them, they willingly SURRENDERED their precinct and the taxpaying constituents who voted them into office to a horde of armed thugs. And note that I placed the word "protect" in quotes, because even under normal circumstances, the police have NO duty to protect you, and even the Supreme Court had ruled that. The duty of the police is to maintain public order and enforce laws that are ratified by elected representatives.
If I am to put it in the most blunt fashion, EVERYTHING in life is a fucking ILLUSION. Well stocked supermarket shelves? Happy families playing in the park? Children having fun in a bright, sunlit field? All ILLUSIONS. Normalcy is nothing but a veil thinner than Earth's atmosphere that provides the only barrier from the hostile space that stretches on for eons. All it takes for this veil of normalcy to shatter completely, is just ONE hardcore death row inmate to escape from a nearby maximum security prison, hungry, horny, and armed with a hammer, to visit a random sleeping household in the middle of the night and grace it with death and terror. You think that cannot happen to YOU because something like that has "not happened in your area before?" None of the residents in the hardworking and traditional community of Plainfield, Wisconsin in 1955 thought that a slightly awkward loner named Ed Gein who lived among them and even mowed their lawns and babysat their children would actually turn out to be a serial killer and cannibal either, who turned his farmhouse into a museum of human corpses in various stages of decomposition...
And to all of those who hail from all over the Internet who are passing by today and reading this, if you think that this cannot happen to YOU, THINK AGAIN. Capitol Hill is a residential area. There are shops, eateries, and entertainment venues on the sidewalk level. Those make up about 30% of the neighborhood. The other 70% are residential areas. Private houses dotting spaces between commercial properties. Stand alone apartment buildings. And flat blocks that occupy the rest of the buildings above the retail and food service areas... THIS layout describes over 98 percent of ALL urban settings across the United States and the rest of the civilized, industrialized West and East. You think a shitstorm of this proportion cannot happen to YOUR neighborhood??? Think again. The residents of Capitol Hill are just like any of the neighborhoods that make up 98% of the US urban cityscape. However, they just happened to roll a shitty combo on the dice of social unrest. I live in Brooklyn, New York. Also in a "residential neighborhood". My neighborhood is JUST as likely as ANY of the others across the world to roll a shitty combo and inaugurate rape, arson, and banditry right to our doorstep.
Do you still think now that the "government will protect you", and "you do not need a gun" or "establish a mutual defensive plan" between your family and close neighbors?

A final word: Supporting gun ownership does not just mean owning a gun. Many of the ANTIFA fuckers also own guns and "support gun ownership", because they need guns in order to DESTROY the country and the institutions that you cherish. A true gun owner and Patriot realizes what institutions from this country's very founding have set in place the safeguards that enable them to possess this right and are willing to defend it to death. If you "support gun ownership" but you do not agree with this country's ideals and traditions and the institutions that have made it safe for the past two centuries, then we simply regard you in the same fashion as the same left wing domestic terrorists that are the subjects of this thread. Period.
