    .
for those of you that OC regularly......do you have a separate belt/holster rig in addition to your pants belt?...... or do you just thread your holster onto your pants belt?

any benefit to one or the other?

I don't OC, ever, but let it be known, I get such a warm fuzzy feeling when I see someone rocking a shiny 1911 on their hip. Such a beautiful piece. Better than the finest leather boots, or most expensive luxury watches...... anyway back to the scheduled programming.

I use the same belts but those belts are also gun belts. One is a Galco, the other is a double thick one I had made. You still want a good gun belt regardless of whether it's OC or IWB. I tote Glocks mostly so if I'm not using Milt Sparks VM2's to conceal I'm using the Blackhawk Serpa 2 --it has some retention but it doesn't get in the way of drawing and they seem made for Glocks. I do tend to use the Galco for the belt holster but that's because I bought it when I lost weight and wanted a shorter belt. It really doesn't matter though provided it's a gun belt.

The rules for OC are the same as CC --you still want a close fitting and snug belt that doesn't sag or fold and you still want a quality holster that "works" whatever that means to you.

I usually OC/CC when I wear a belt rig, meaning I have a shirt over it or maybe a jacket but I'm also not really making an effort to conceal it either. If you have print laws that may not be good for you though.

Bigfoot Gun Belts. I now use it whenever. It's got a steel band inside the leather. It is by far the best gun belt I've ever used. Will not deform under any situation.
i have one and love it...i have their extra thick one and use it as an every day belt...fantastic for CC and belt carry.

my thinking is if i use a separate belt for OC, i can go with a much wider belt because it doesnt have to go through the loops on my pants, something like a 2.25" belt.......this would better distribute the load from a heavier gun.

Yes, I have their extra heavy duty belt and I also use it for everyday use. It's gotta be the best money I've spent on a gun belt or regular belt for that matter. Did you know, that if you lose weight, you can send the belt back to them and they will punch how ever many holes you want added?
