Hello,

I think I have a good idea for a baffle, and I want to submit a Form 1 and build a can. That said, I am not sure what the legalities are of testing baffle designs? My understanding is that even if the baffels suck, you need to submit another Form 1 in order to make another baffel design. I am not currently capable to do 3D modeling, so I am wondering if there is a way to construct and test a design without it costing $200 each revision?

Sorry new and stupid to this stuff, so please forgive me if these are already answered or overly simple.

Thanks

Dave

Re: Form 1 Question

Dave that is far from "stupid" question. I have been around NFA a long time and don't have a clue. I would suggest you write a letter to ATF tech asking that specific question and any others you may have regarding. When they respond you will have CYA answer not just an opinion from cyber space.

Re: Form 1 Question

Homeless,

There was a statement issued by the ATF warning MT Citizens that this new law was not valid, and they would indeed continue prosecution for anyone who tries to make NFA firearms without paying the proper tax and filing the proper forms. To date there is currently an effort to get the law heard in one of the District courts, with the eventual destination being the Supreme Court to rule on whether or not MT and/or other states have the right to do this... Until that time, I am not wanting to be the poster child for this cause, it is worthwhile for me to utilize the Form 1 and pay the tax.

Secondly, even if I was willing to avoid the tax through this new MT law, I am not sure the legality of transporting a 'MT Made' suppressor across state lines, which is where I would like to use this suppressor at competitions and the like.

Thanks for the suggestion Mark.
