I just received my jaw housing plate replacement for the Forester Co-Ax press and find it to be a great alternate for the original equipment. Forum member Clark made this for me and me looks to be of great quality and machine work. Comparing the two units side by side: Clark’s prototype is wider at 1.600” vs. 1.270”, but slightly shorter @ 2.415” vs. 2.426”. The thickness is the same as the original at .255” and .116” at the bridge. However, there is more material on the prototype at the bridge opening to the edge. The coolest feature is the recessed holes for the springs vs. a groove track. This allows the springs to stay in-line and it is a lot easier to assemble, remove and clean the base and jaws. Screws hole line up perfect. Great replacement plate with a larger footprint. Shipped along with two 10-24 cap screws, very well made and quick delivery.
