Soldiers been missing since 7 OCT...

Just the Army doing army things. The real problem is the command staff really does not care what happens to soldiers or why. The military is the perfect socialist world. If you are willing to work hard, they are willing to assign every task, assignment or job to you and let everyone else coast. If you are not willing to work at all...................................they pay you the same as the guys working hard. If you fail as a leader, they will find you a job where failure is an option so you can do it wrong for a career with no issues. And problems like soldiers disappearing are addressed by simply declaring the disappeared a "deserter" and pretending it never happened. Socialism thrives in a world where the truth you imagine is the reality you live........................like the Army.

They have drill instructors pimping at basic training bases, supply guys stealing the place empty, management to concerned with everything except building a highly trained and qualified army and a surprising amount of rape, robbery and murder on bases these days.

    1976 - 2001 = Years of service for me

    You?

If you would have pulled that in the late 80s, the Corps would bring you back to base. Period.
Why is she w extended family.
Investigate, get to the truth and then be fair and just.

    His statement isnt all false.

Take for example I was a medic(yes i know i chose it) and you have a guy who is a glorified secretary. Both are same rank and time in service. They get paid exactly the same. Now one guys is saving lives and one types up a document. How is that not socialism.....

Oh and my service was from 2006-2021.

If that guy didn't type that document, you might not have gotten paid, or advanced or any other of a host of things that gets done clericaly. Every one has a job to do and they are all important.

I love it when my first instinct about what happened after reading the OP is proven by the end of the thread.

For every one service member that legitimately disappears because of someone else's criminal action against them, there's probably 10,000 that go UA/AWOL because they're chickenshit.

100,000% true. I'm truly witnessing this firsthand with a Army unit that's just showed up where I am overseas. Fucking sad and disgusting at the same time.

    You?
Years of service has nothing to do with observations that 80-90% of work is done by 10-20% of the personnel. Slugs get rewarded with less work, because slugs. Hard workers get rewarded with more work, because slugs.

Both slug and hard worker of the same pay grade get same pay, because pay grade.

I think everyone’s experience is different as is every base. Some folks have a totally different experience at different bases. That said, I felt like most of it was a shitshow.

I've agree. Saw it firsthand, MANY times.
The perfect storm is wen that slug also happens to be an excellent softball player. Then they get shit like TAD orders to play softball.

Are current and former service members here really complaining about getting paid the same as ABC for doing or not doing XYZ work?

I think you guys stepped off the deep end. If that's the case, hang it up and get out maybe?🤷🏾‍♂️

Warfighters always bitch about the pogues.
Warfighters sleep in the dirt and get shot at , pogues get papercuts, fresh coffee and sleep in quarters.

It's been like that for ages. To complain about it is asinine. People have different jobs for a reason. And pay is what it is for a reason, as well.

My dad made First Sergeant in 73 and took over a company in 74. He, the CO, and the staff NCOs were told by the CG and Provost Marshal to do what they had to do. Within two days they took down the top ringleaders and then took the rest of the unit out in the field for 90 days. That sorted out the rest. The Army will need that to get itself fixed.

The Army has a lot of weaknesses. I quiz young soldiers when I run into them. Many of them are very weak on team work, using capabilities other than their own rifles or MOS specific gear. Most are not aware of what and how they fit within the small unit and higher level units' missions. A lot of supposedly good line units cannot be mission capable.

I ran into an NCO from my old unit and I was shocked at his lack of preparedness to run missions or lead his guys. He could not run commo, read a map, drive vehicles, direct fires, prepare references for his guys, train them, or even perform basic observation tasks. His senior leadership was not running daily training on unit tasks. Good for him that he stopped and listened and we spent a good two hours outlining what he did not know and how he could get started.

A nephew is a Cav Scout. His unit is squared away. And he knows how to perform all his tasks and those around him and gets a lot of training all the way up. So there is that.

I see that most of the young guys are thirsty for real leadership and want to do the right thing. That gives me hope.

The Army is too busy making sure everyone does all their mandatory classes before actual leading or job training.

Couldn’t agree more. As a senior leader, 90% of your time is spent on 10% of your soldiers. I use that term loosely, because a major of that 10% aren’t soldiers in any other way but name.

I'm confused by your statement. People are complaining that the military is socialized because everyone gets paid the same, regardless of job. This is true. And will always be true.

I try to do the opposite. Spend 80% of my time with the top 20% and then have the lowest level leader deal with the non-performers. Unfortunately that's not always doable.

I just tried to spend time with my Soldiers period. Between bullshit meetings, inept leaders that couldn't manage time or their lives, giving that time to my Soldiers was challenging to say the least.

When I did take time to be with the guys working my NCO's got mad at me for trying to be around, working and thought I was spying, micromanaging even without me giving any guidance. I had to explain that spot checking was part of my job and that I am not above picking up a broom and sweeping the motorpool like everyone else. Took a little while to earn their trust and be part of the team. This was at FT Hood 99-03.

Ft Hood wasn't a bad place at all. Lots of land to train on, good ranges. Great food and some nice cities in the vicinity.

It isn't all correct and below are a few examples.

A PA, a doctor, a nurse all make more than an Infantryman at the same rank and time in service with their additional pays (WAY more). Money wise in the military being at the higher end of the Medical Service Corps branch has it's financial perks with additional pays. There are other MOS's and skill identifiers that this applies to also when in that role like ABN and that little bit of jump pay or linguists, interrogators etc etc. Don't forget certain branches had enlistment bonuses to add in there.

Brings back memories. Good for you.

My BN Commander was all up in our shit for two years. He'd show up at 4 am at a departure point to check on if we knew our mission, the plan, and our gear was GTG. For that reason, we were pretty sharp most of the time. I got to drive/RTO for him for a few months and he took me into all his meetings and planning sessions and took the time to explain things. I got to watch him lead.

I had a platoon leader like you who did the same thing. He spent time with everyone figuring out what they knew that he didn't then asked to be taught. Then he taught it to the rest of the platoon. And he let the NCOs run things. Us lower enlisted really liked seeing him around.

I learned a lot about leadership from both men.

My Nephew is going to OCS after he finishes his tour as squad leader. My dad, I and others, convinced him to get through another enlistment as a Jr Leader before pushing on.

Plenty of quality time with them all, and my stellar performers got all the development they could handle or take at any given time. Sitting in a ranger grave on top of a mountain in trashganistan or wherever in the middle of the desert. Unfortunately the army was changing when I left, and I fear it has changed to a point where it is almost impossible to correct poor performers like need be. The majority of junior leaders aren’t ready to be soldiers let alone leaders in a lot of cases. Everyone mistook a combat patch for experience, and that was the mistake that cost the ranks qualified leaders instead of just leaders. I’m sure there are still some out there blowing it out of the water and I applaud that effort. Eventually it will turn the bend.

    Or I hope

Apparently you didnt read the part of same RANK. doctors, PAs and nurses are all officers.....of course they make more than an enlisted infantryman......jesus christ. Reading comprehension much.....

Of course officers make more than enlisted. Also, yes PA,, doctors and Nurses make more than normal officers or they wouldn't be able to retain them in the service....

You totally missed the point. The point being, is as a medic with 14 years in, I made "x" while going outside the wire and risking my life. Now a 42A(secretary) types a memo and makes the same as me that has 14 years and same rank.

That's the point I'm making. Learn how to follow a conversation.....

Fuck. this is why we cant have nice things....

??? "A PA, a doctor, a nurse all make more than an Infantryman at the same rank and time in service with their additional pays (WAY more). " AKA a PA that is a major makes more than an Infantryman that is a major. Or should I have written Infantry officer for you to get it?

Talk about reading comprehension and then look in the mirror :cautious: :cautious:

Go cry me a river, it isn't fair:rolleyes:

    I cite:

"...Now, she is said to be accounted for and with extended family. Leadership with her chain of command spoke to Sewell’s family around 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10 and confirmed her safety.

Authorities are now working to ensure Sewell has access to resources to make sure she can make a safe return to Fort Hood...
    "

In the good old days, those "resources" were called MP. Now, it's a clown show in every corner of .gov and .mil.

Did you see the reason I listed as to why they get paid more....or did you not follow the conversation.

I'll state it again, the army HAS to pay them more because they wouldn't have doctors in the army if they didnt.

However this conversation was about enlisted until you went full retard and brought a strawman argument into it.

@stefan73 , straight question so please a straight answer.

Why do a secretary and a medic get paid the same in the army with all the same TIS and TIG if it weren't socialism......

Is that clear enough for you. I never shed a tear over it. I was just asking a question.
