So my friend comes to me with some ammo he bought from some guy on craigslist... He bought this all during his panic when "obama was going to take our guns and ammo" so he has thousands of rounds, even in calibers for guns he doesn't own.

Anyways, i looked at some of his .223 ammo he brought to the range. It was handloaded (if that term even works here)...

Brass was all random.. some was lake city from the 80's what it looked like, remington, military, FC, etc.

The projectiles in each case were random... some with hollow points, lead tips, different color ballistic tips, etc.

half the shoulders were "crushed" meaning the neck was pushed down into the shoulder and the shoulder was rounded as a result. Looked kindof like weatherby brass.

There was tons of corrosion on some of the rounds.

There were a LOT that had a crimp on the primer that wasn't removed, and a new primer was jammed into place...the primers were crushed and visibly deformed from being forced into the pocket.

My friend asked "should I shoot this stuff?" .... um no

Unbelievable that this happens and someone would willingly sell this kind of ammo... or be ok with making this kind of ammo in the first place

Some newby handloader with a lot of rejects decides to get rid of them? First thing I thought of or someone that did maybe half (if that much) of the reading they should have before they started "trying" to reload cases (the "experience is the best way to learn crowd").

Good call on not firing them. Hard telling what would happen. Best thing to do would be to just toss them. Next best pull bullets and toss everything else.

There was a post on this topic a few years ago. You could legally sell your handloads if they were loads you intended to shoot and were matched to a gun you no longer owned or something to that effect.

I would put them on craigslist. You wouldn't believe what idiots will buy on there.
