GAP barrel shoulder question

Hello all,

Im hoping someone can shed some light on the reason that some GAP rifles have such a pronounced barrel shoulder when using surefires brakes. ( Gladius, HRT rifle)

It looks to be around 1/4 inch of relief cut between the actual brake and the beginning of the standard diameter of the barrel.

I would assume one would want the thickest diameter as far as could be allowed with a brake. Educate me please!

it's the tundown spec for the sf brake install to ensure proper fit for the suppressor. look up the current sf brakes ans notice they addressed the issue by building the additional turndown onto the brake itself

the sf brake is really just what was spec'ed between frank and gap, and considered a user preference item. that is, they will still mark it a gladius if you spec it with a different brake or no brake at all. its the same for minor things like multicam color, cerakote color, maybe +/-2" of barrel.

if you are considering a build, the gladius is cool as hell (I've had one) and a hallmark for thr shorty tactical rifle, but you will end up happier spec'ing every detail to you exact preference.

e.g., if going GAP, going templar v2 is a no-brainer for me
