Finally, the Surefire 762SS was approved earlier this week and I have it in hand as of this evening. I did the finally assembly tonight, mounted the scope, put on the bipod and TAB sling and now I can't believe it's all done! I got the rifle from George at GAP, he told me it was the 2nd one made, after Franks, and I am thrilled to own it. I also just got in my shipment of Southwest Ammo in 155gr - 308Win, Lapua brass to run thru this tomorrow. I wasn't to wild about the Multicam film at first but it is growing on me. To quote the A Team " I love it when a plan comes together."

Here are a few pics. I will get more up tomorrow with a range report and possible some video. This will be my last project for awhile as I am expecting my son to be born within a couple weeks!

Re: GAP Gladius: Complete

Congrats on your new addition...Your son of course. If it is your first...you have no idea, you just think you were excited about your rifle. I cried like a little girl when my son was born and my daughter too. I am excited for you.

Nice rifle too.

Thank You. I am excited and scared at the same time. But, I know how much I love my father and I can't wait to watch him grow up and teach him. Plus now I have a shooting buddy for life!

Re: GAP Gladius: Complete

Very nice rifle Sir. Congrats on your son. Just a bit of advice. Get as much sleep as you can. You are going to need it. A friend of mine(US Marine)had twins. He was also in Fallujah. He said he got more sleep when he was in Fallujah.

Re: GAP Gladius: Complete

When my first child was born 17 yrs ago,I thought my life as I knew it was coming to a halt. You will see, life changes, but you'll still be able to do the same things you do now.My youngest, now 15 and I shoot all the time. Things are gonna be different and better, once he starts sleeping through the night. lol

Congrats on the rifle and the first born soon to come!

Was the water-transfer film used on your stock? I figured by the quote above that is the case?!

178's, really?! I shot Southwest ammo in 155gr today and it shot well at 600 yards. I am going to run some 175's thru it tomorrow.

Thanks for all the kind words guys!

GAP had the film done. You would have to ask them about their process they use. I am fairly sure George has them sent off

I don't care to throw that around in public. That's kind of a private matter.

Re: GAP Gladius: Complete

I am here to report my range findings with the Gladius today. I shot Southwest Ammo out of it. 155gr, Lapua Brass, CCI Primers. And let me first thank the people at SW Ammo. This 155gr was producing some of the tightest groups I have ever seen out of any of my 308's. I brought another rifle to test fire it through. Same results with the 155's and 175's, BUGHOLES! I thought I was getting light primer strikes bc of the actual primers used in the ammo but it was a problem with my firing pin. The small roll pin was missing but I replaced it and went on.

At this point I was about 40 rounds into the SW ammo and my groups were still shrinking as I got used to the new Gladius platform. I am impressed to say the least with the SF can's POI shift, there was none at all. It shot exactly the same suppressed and unsuppressed. Also to be noted is the weight of the rifle itself with a full mag, suppressor, NF scope. It cant be over 13 pounds. It's a very light rig and easy to get around with, a true "handy" rifle. Now at this point in the day it was about 67 degrees outside and partly cloudy. I have shot paper all day.... Low and behold a coyote walks out into the field in which my 600-800 yard targets lay. He must have been desperate because I made him pay. But, I digress from the review.

Overall this is another GAP built hammer. With our fearless leader, Lowlight, being the guinea pig for the Gladius so to speak I think they have found a winner. This rifle is deadly accurate out to 1000 yards as proven by LL and its a truly custom built rifle, which is very appealing to most. The SW Ammo is amazing, in fact I will never again order ammo from Black Hills as long as these guys are around. I will post group pics when I can collect my targets that I left outside.

Some pics for your enjoyment!

Re: GAP Gladius: Complete

Congratulations on the son. I don't know how long you'll go without any new projects, though. My safe is full of rifles that I bought for "my son when he is old enough".

Right on the money at 14lbs with no can and an empty mag! My other rifle must be 15 pounds and up, cause the Gladius feels like a toy to me!

Thanks. Certainly a bit porky for a hunting rig but a hell of a lot lighter than the AICS I'm currently lugging around. Do you intend to use your Gladius for hunting?

Re: GAP Gladius: Complete

What kind of velocities were you getting with the 155 and 175's. Also what is the twist used on the Gladius? BTW nice rifle, I am thinking I need one now.

Re: GAP Gladius: Complete

Fine looking rig, sir. Congrats, I'm blessed with two sons. Some of the greatest joys in life have come to me since they were born. Enjoy and get him shooting early.

Re: GAP Gladius: Complete

I think the Gladius comes in a 1-10" twist. Also that is a nice setup. How do you like your Night Force? Looks like a MIL/MIL setup. Man I need a Second job...I gotta have one of these rifles.

Hunting..... No. The occasional set up on a coyote, yes. I shoot for distance and accuracy. Dont really hunt with the tactical rigs. I have hunting rifles for that.
