So I'm taking the plunge into tactical bolt competiton. Since ALL of my experience has been behind a Noveske 3gun AR15, I'm reading up on what would be the best choice for my needs in a platform. Since the range limitations in my area are 650 yards max, I decided to go .308 for my first build. Perhaps 6.5CM is in my future on a different build, so that being said I think I narrowed the chassis, and options to the following:

The Manners T2A, the AI AICS 2.0, and the AI AX AICS. In my mind the Manners appears to be more comfortable, less complicated and easier to swing around in positional stages. But the AI chassis is appealing to me because they remind me of the AR15's that I absolutely love.

I had a friend suggest the Stiller TAC30 action with a Remington Varmint profile in 22" for a suitable barrel choice.

Can anyone critique my potential choices for this build. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Please don't buy a 308, i think it would be a big mistake

If you don't hand load go 6.5 cm, buy as much ammo as you can afford and sell the once fired brass or get it reloaded.

Also run a 26 inch barrel, you arent going to notice an extra 4 inches and the added increae in speed will help.

I prefer a manners or MCM to a chassis myself

Where are you located? If you can make it to k&m next weekend for the panhandle there will be lots of guns you can see and feel.

Best of luck

Living behind the iron curtain in NJ, but my Heart is in Texas. My body just hasn't caught up to it yet. lol

Reloading is NOT in the cards right now so factory loads are where its at for me. I am open to the 6.5CM as a choice, but I was thinking it was more than what I need for 650y -- thinking of a shorter package for my area. Don't plan on going out of state for matches at least for a couple years. I have a new family with a 2 year old, so time for road trips is tight.

GAP is a vender I have in my sights along with Accurate Ordnance.

Both have been very nice to speak with in my research.

Re: GAP Grind build....

For the record it has been VERY tempting to go with a GAP10 in 6.0CM , but since I don't trust NJ on the subject of semiautos, I want to go bolt action to stay on the safe side of their crap ass mentality regarding gun control. YES it SUCKS !
