A month ago, I dropped off my rifle at GAP. Today I got home and my old barrel was on my porch in a fed ex box. Do they usually ship take off barrels back to you? Does this mean my process has started? Just wondering.

Re: GAP question

In years past, you needed to request to get the old take-off barrels back, I'm sure they had a barrel grave yard in the back of the shop and got tired of it. Your project is most likely under way, enjoy no sleep tonight

Yes, your build has started.

If customers request return of take-off parts, we will generally ship them as the smiths strip down the action for work.

Re: GAP question

A good GAP is hard to beat...and they all seem to be pretty good. I've had a few custom guns built by nationally ranked smiths...and there is always a wait for the final product that makes it tough to sleep some nights. It's nice to have other interests that you can focus on to take your mind off that one project until it's completed and in your hands. Kind of like visions of sugar plums dancing in your head...
