Garage Storage Cabinet Comparison

I'm planning to reorganize my garage. Here's the three garage cabinet systems I'm looking at:

1. Gladiator cabinets (Ace Hardware: They'll assemble them so all I have to do is hang them, but I'm not sure if I like the looks)
2. Kobalt cabinets (Lowes: They look kinda cool; I guess, not sure if the plastic will still look good in a year or two)
3. Husky cabinets (Home Depot: These look the best but I hate Home Depot so I'm reluctant to buy anything there if Ace or Lowes has a solution for me)

or are there better alternatives out there?

I know this place has to have some opinions to share in regard to your garage. Let's here 'em!

Re: Garage Storage Cabinet Comparison

I have two of the Kobalt cabinets, and I wouldn't have any other. I inspected several before I purchased, and this one has more than enough room for my garage toys.

I also have one in my reloading area for nothing but bullets and reloading equipment. The shelves are very stable and strong, and 1 shelf holds up to at least 250# of bullets and ammo cans.

Re: Garage Storage Cabinet Comparison

I have the gladiator cabinets, they are decent- better than the plastic, the magnetic catches do a a good job keeping the doors latched, and the cabinets keep the occasional garage mouse out of my best tools/ammo/backpacks/etc.

Re: Garage Storage Cabinet Comparison

I run the grey and black Craftsman ones. They go on sale once in a while, usually in spring time. Good luck, JPG

I started by looking at the kind of high end cabinets the guy here is selling. They are just beautiful! But I couldn't swallow the $10k price tag for one wall of cabinets when I still have so many more guns to buy

And then I'd have to buy a $70k sportscar to match my cabinets.

Re: Garage Storage Cabinet Comparison

on second thought, maybe the sportscar and matching cabinets is not a bad idea

Re: Garage Storage Cabinet Comparison

Those Sam's cabinets look really good... and the price is excellent. I may have to swing by the local Sam's to get a closer look.

I have the workbench and will probably get the cabinet to go under. I use mine as my reloading bench, with presses, etc. mounted to plywood and c-clamped as needed, so as to not mar the nice top. I really like it and the price is right.

I saw this post come up in some reports on my end, don't mean to cause trouble, but we do carry a lot more than just the super high end expensive stuff. You might want to look here -

Re: Garage Storage Cabinet Comparison

I
have bunch of the Gorilla shelves from Ace and they have held up well and hold a good amount of weight.

Re: Garage Storage Cabinet Comparison

I've been eye balling these at Costco for some time.

F it I can't get the link to work. Check out the Costco web site, and search garage. They have a few systems for sale.

Re: Garage Storage Cabinet Comparison

I've got the husky cabnets. Ill have to add a +1 for them. mine have lasted through the roughness of a firemen, which can break and anvil. Only other option i could add is look for a wholesale/ consignment shop i found some unfinished cabnets there as well for not alot of cash. Add some paint or stain and your gtg.

Re: Garage Storage Cabinet Comparison

Maybe I missed a budget post, but I am looking too for cabinets and tool boxes. I am not impressed with the Huskey, C-man, or Kobalt. I can not afford the Lista or Strong Hold cabinets, but I see lots of good used stuff on craigslist, just hard to find more than one or two that match.
