Hello all, I’m new to posting here but have been reading the forums for years. I don’t know if this has been asked before but I have a garmin Fenix watch and am curious if any of you have used it for atmospherics. If so has it been accurate?
I have used mine before I got a kestrel to put into the 4dof app on my phone and it seemed to work ok. I was re calibrating the watch before I used it though.
Temp is the most suspect unless you have a remote tempe. As @SourGrapes said you want to make sure you have a good base for your baro before you start. Truth is, your baro can be way off and have very little effect at 600 and in, for fast cartridges.
I didn’t realize that about baro. I’ve used the Fenix temp and baro for range days all with different atmospherics. I usually take it off on the way and set out as I’m getting set up. It doesn’t seem to affect my dope too much but I’m only shooting to 400 mostly and with a .308 about 2680 fps.
