i currently am working on a bushmaster var i recently acquired. its maine use is yote buting but i also use it in the local varmint comps. i want to upgrade the trigger it currently breaks about 4.5lbs i am thinking the geissele sse but wonder if 3.5lbs is a big enough diff to justify 200 bucks. i am open to others and thing 2.5 to 3 is a little more suited to the accuracy im looking for. i like the two stage on my ar's. what do you think????? geissele or other

Re: geissele or?

Are you wanting the SSA or the SSA-E? I have the SSA-E and i can tell you it's one of the best purchases i've ever made for a AR. Shooting now doesn't involve carpel tunnel and the pull is right there with my bolt rifle. So i don't have to constantly switch trigger feel and pattern.

Re: geissele or?

You mainly mention the drop in pull weight. I assume your current trigger is just a standard, nothing special Bushmaster trigger. If so, by switching to the Geissele you will not only get a drop in pull weight, but an improvement in overall trigger feel as well, in my opinion.

Re: geissele or?

I had the SSA and still found it too heavy. I bought the Match 2 stage (2#s) and it is a significant upgrade from the SSA in performance and price. I wish I would have just ponied up for it originally.

Re: geissele or?

I just installed an SSA-E last night and it feels great. I also have a JP and enjoy it as well. The lock time on the SSA-E seems much faster given it uses a full power hammer spring. I don't have any range time yet with the SSA-E but I think I may end up preferring it over the JP. Look at Brownells and use promo code DJ5 to save $20 off of $200 which brings the cost pretty close to the less expensive SSA. You will have to throw something else in your cart to add a penny to get you over the $200 hump but everyone can use an extra chamber flag or something right?

Re: geissele or?

Thanks for the promo code. I have an SSA, but looking to get an SSA-E. For the price they're hard to beat. Plus you can get some cash out out of the old trigger most of the time.

Re: geissele or?

i really like my rock river 2 stage trigger. hard to tell the difference between it and a geissle. with the group of guys we shoot highpower with its split 50/50 between the geissle and the rock river and we have all shot each others rifles and agree you can feel the difference

Re: geissele or?

I just swapped an SSA for a High-Speed Match DMR. The DMR is adjustable but is pretty close to the SSA-E right out of the box. It is great for the precision type shooting I wanted in that gun, a 7.62 OBR with 20" barrel. And I've already sold the original SSA to a friend who loves it in his gun.

I have another gun with a RRA Match trigger that is pretty nice, but it's not going to beat the Geissele.
