Hey guys, I am trying to find a 22lr can

I have been looking at the gemtech alpine but have not heard a ton about it.

I am looking for a 22 can that I can take apart and clean and also want a extremely effective can. I can get one as I am sure everyone else can for $420 plus all the other charges Probably out the door for $675 after everything. I really want a good can! Is this what you guys would expect to pay?

Any more info on the alpine? Or should I be Focusing my attention to a different 22lr suppressor.

Thanks for the help and advice

Jake

A Checkmate QD will yield comparable performance for $395 MSRP. The Thread mount is $375 MSRP. These two are .22WMR rated as well as modular (meaning you can swap mounting options if you want to buy both).

The Gemtech Alpine is pretty compact and a decent performer though. If it's at your local dealer, it makes enough sense to me.

Re: ---gemtech alpine 22LR can, tell me about it!!!

I think you should study the Silencer Co Sparrow SS before making a purchase. I have one, and it does everything you need it do plus more. They are rated for 5.7x28, so that tells you how strong they are. Light, small, and very quiet. Super easy to take apart to clean. The silencer co web page has lots of videos for you to watch, which will help you. I researched the rim fire cans extensively before making my purchase, and my expectations which were very high were greatly exceeded once I had the chance to experience the sparrow SS in person. It is a 100 out of 100 in my book.

Re: ---gemtech alpine 22LR can, tell me about it!!!

First round pop is a reality with sparrow. I did notice less of FRP when mounted to Ruger MRK II verses Walter, but it was overall a LOT quieter also so that may be the reason.

SWR Spectre

No First Round Pop.
Built to last a lifetime.
Quieter than my magnum pellet gun.
SWR - Customer service reputation is Stellar.

The top 3 or 4 cans out there are equally quiet, their tone is different. The Spectre weighs 8-oz and some people think that is heavy. Those people need to work out.

Re: ---gemtech alpine 22LR can, tell me about it!!!

Hey guys!!! I looked at and felt and read about tons of 22lr suppressors.

I ended up buying a 22lr surefire stainless steel can. It will be goIng on my 22 rifle. I ordered another to go on my 22 pistol. It's aluminum and about $80 cheaper and twice as light. I babe heard good thing about all of them and I had a feeling I was going to be happy with any one I chose. I chose surefire.

Re: ---gemtech alpine 22LR can, tell me about it!!!

My form 4 on my alpine can has been pending for a little more than 18 weeks. I should have it any time and I will let you know. I paid 330.00 for it from Off Duty Armory.

Re: ---gemtech alpine 22LR can, tell me about it!!!

The problem with Surefire .22 cans is...they aren't out yet. I have shot them and they are nice. The Spectre is getting a re-work and will soon be the Spectre II. It has a few nice new surprises and I believe a lower price point. I probably torture my Sparrow more than any other .22 can that I own. It is tough and I am extremely hard on things. It always breaks down well for cleaning and no need for any tools. It is my top selling can, by far.

You will have to go thru the NFA process....

If you buy from a shop with an attached range, you can at least hold it and shoot it in the meantime while waiting for the F4 stamp to take it home.

Re: ---gemtech alpine 22LR can, tell me about it!!!

You made a good purchase with the aluminum can as long as you don't plan on shooting 17 hmr or 22 mag. You also could have looked at the Gemtech Outback II-D. It is a user dissassembleable can, its light aluminium, and runs $325 msrp. 22s are very fun to shoot silenced. Enjoy.

That is pretty accurate.
