Can a guy zero his rifle with a bore sight first? I have a 338 norma mag being built by gradous and I'd like to setup my NF F1 milspec scope. What's the best way when I get the rifle to get the scope on target?

If by zero you mean get yourself on paper after which you really dial it in then yes you should be able to do that.

If you mean get an actual zero by boresighting I'd say not likely, at least in my experience.

I have used boresighters and find that simply removing the bolt, find a milkjug etc. look through the tube and set your reticle on the target while the milk jug is centered in the tube, send one down range at 50-75, make any adj's and move out to 100. It's always worked for me, and always had me on paper after 1st shot.

Your first bolt rifle is from Gradous. Boy are you ever spoiled forever.

As for bore sighting. I have found it a waste of time and the devices to aid in that pursuit a waste of money. They don't seem to get you any closer to the zero than just setting the scope adjustments to center when mounting. Center the adjustments (typically new scopes come this way anyway) and sit a big target out at 50 yards or so and shoot at the middle. Usually the first shot is on. If its not than sit the big target at 25.
