Rifle Scopes Getting on paper

It looks like a great way to separate someone from their money.

How much ammo does it take to sight in a scope? Boresight, a CBS at 25 or 50, gross adjust, dial a bit for height over bore, group at 100, dial, group to confirm... if your scope is of decent quality and mounted properly (i.e. confirmed level, mount and rings of good quality torqued to spec), it should be pretty damn simple.

if you’re spending any more time chasing a basic zero, $55 worth of Chinese airsoft lasers clamped to your scope isn’t going to fix it.

Agreed it’s cheap. If someone feels like it helps then go for it. I use a boresighter for guns I can’t look through the bolt. Saves me some time. I usually shoot at 25 just to get on paper adjust then move out to 100. Pretty sure everyone has their method and they all work. Can’t say how many people I have seen struggle at the range sighting in their rifles. I usually offer to help if they can’t get it in 20 shots (sad but true). I can usually get it sighted in about 5 shots including a round to confirm zero. If someone wants to spend that and zero their rifle that’s fine. Plus if they look through the reticle while adjusting their scope paying attention to how the cross hairs move they can learn how the turrets adjust the reticle. Can be used as a learning tool too if you are a complete newb. Everyone starts somewhere.

I'm a look down the bore guy, but I can see how this could be useful. I have the wheeler magnetic laser, but I run into trouble if the muzzle end is not flat. Inside the bore laser sites require other compromises. I think the logic is sound. Just another tool. Some will love it. Some will never need it.

let someone who knows what they are doing do it for you that's a really easy method you could get them to show you what and how they do it so the next time if you need to do it you will have a better idea how . Most people at the range are happy to help most of the time . there are a ton of video's online about setting up a scope some are extremely easy to follow step by step . Good luck however you end up doing what ever you do .

Anyone tried this?
With the price of ammo lately I dont wanna waste any.
Never even seen it before. I just posted up in another thread my zero process. Devices like this are largely (in my opinion) not needed.

A solution desperately seeking a problem ... IMHO.
Just sight down the bore and adjust the scope. Paper in 1-shot, zero'd in 3.
If you can't afford the extra 2 shots, you shouldn't be at the range wasting ammo.

Um, no.

Pull your bolt out and look down the barrel, then through your scope. Move your crosshair to match.
This is the way to do it. I would only add to tac on the elevation for the distance you intend to be your zero as well and you'll save another round or two. For instance, if you are at 100, align sight through bore to target and then add 1.25-1.5 moa (or mil equivalent) then fire first shot. I then measure this at the target, adjust to it and consider that my cold bore zero (for hunting rifles). Wait for the rifle to return to cold state and verify. I've zeroed plenty of hunting rifles this way with 2 shots.
It also works at distance. I have "sighted in" at 600 with my 2 sighters during an F-class match. Align bore to target, add 1.5 minutes to the 600 elevation, add a wind guess, and fire. I'm not suggesting this should be normal, but works in a pinch if you were to change scopes and rings after a season and forget about it until you were laying on the line the beginning of the next season. Hypothetically, of course...

I have been a .22 LR shooter for years. Not so much center fire. I would sight my .22 in by clamping in a vice and looking down the barrel and centering the target. About 50 yards usually. Net I would take a shot without moving the bench or rifle. move crosshairs until they are over the hole I just made. Follow up shots to confirm.
I cant shoot centerfire at my house, Cant bolt a vice down at my range, Dont know that the vice would hold under recoil.

You do realize that you can do the exact same process without the lasers.
But then again, then they would not sell any friggin lasers, would they!
