Glasses for prone

I find whenever dropping to prone and using a scope, my safety glasses are often in the way. Occasionally the frame is quite literally in the way. Even when the frame isn't in the way, I am looking through the extreme edge of the glasses and this can really throw off my shots; if I remove the glasses altogether, my shots immediately improve.

Of course removing the glasses is not an option at a match.

I've tried a couple different pairs but haven't found anything satisfactory.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem and found a fix for it. I imagine a set with a really high frame would work, but don't know where to find something like that.

Re: Glasses for prone

I wear prescription lenses and had the same problem. There are high frame glasses available (quick search turned up http://www.lmlenses.com/), but what I've been doing is just setting up for a more upright head position. Besides getting rid of the frame issue, it feels more comfortable to my eyes.

Eye protection is required.

Re: Glasses for prone

I was just going to post a similar question. Shot my first comp last weekend and hate my stupid safety glasses...gotta find something better. I find it funny that people look through $3,000+ scopes with $3 safety goggles! Surely they're not...right?

Who makes high-quality lens safety/shooting glasses?

Re: Glasses for prone

I went through this same agony. Obviously everyones head is different, but it was like a revelation when i finally tried on oakley radars. I got 2 lenses, one that is clear and one that is yellow. I wanted the Most light transmission i could get. I typically wear the yellow lens. They ROCK

Re: Glasses for prone

I have glasses for vision and have problems where they slide down and I have to push them back up in order to see through my optic.

I'm on my second prescription pair of Oakley Juliets, and I have one non-prescription (I lost a bet to the ocean with my other prescription pair...). My first pair was the best money I ever spent leading up to going overseas.

Can't say I have shot them behind a rifle, but they are hands down my favorite sunglasses ever.

M-Frames would ge great shooters, as well. Far more light, but I have broken plastic frames multiple times. The x-metal frames on the Juliets are the win.

Expensive though. Especially if you're getting prescription lenses ;(

To follow-up on this, my second prescription pair of Juliets finally came in. Absolutely no issues firing prone.

And they are still incredibly sturdy metal frames. If you break these frames you were either way too drunk or the frames won't be all that was broken.
