I recently purchased a Glock 30SF for concealed carry use. I'm now looking for a leather IWB holster, or possibly a hybrid like a Crossbreed. I normally carry at the 4 o'clock position.

Here are some holsters that I've considered -

Milt Sparks Watch Six (WS-1)
Galco Royal Guard (but it's at the upper end of my budget)
Desantis Cozy Partner
Crossbreed Super Tuck

I'd sure appreciate some feedback about my choices and/or suggestions for some others that I might have missed. Any and all comments are welcome

Re: Glock 30SF IWB Holster Choices

I will not buy any more holsters that have plastic clips - have broken a few on my Comp-Tac CTAC.

I am also done with Kydex holsters altogether - great if you never want to practice drawing with a hot gun or don't plan to actually use them for a long time. Kydex cracks too easily (does not like to flex repeatedly) and can "loosen up" when you jam a hot gun in it, not to mention they are warmer on your leg than leather under the same circumstances.

The advantage to Kydex is that it's thin compared to leather and will stay open (IWB) where much more thickness is required to make a leather holster that stays open. Kydex may be marginally faster to draw from.

I carry a G20, which is very similar to your G30 for CCW purposes. The THICKNESS of the slide and grip and loaded weight are your main concerns. Get a good belt like a wilderness Tactical or something made of very rigid leather. Check out http://www.thebeltman.net/ Also look for holsters with dual loops that are spread far apart to distribute the weight and prevent shifting of the holster. Match the loops so that they fit TIGHT on the belt you choose. Slop there leads to a holster that moves around on the belt and in your pants - a 20 degree angle change can make a big difference in concealment of a full-size handgun - usually making the grip print.

The Royal Guard is the only one I'd consider of those you have mentioned.

I'd suggest the Milt Sparks Versamax (I'm about to get on the waiting list) - it's leather, has leather loops that can be bought in various sizes to fit them to your belt, stays open for reholster (needed for draw practice) and is made well.

Look at Tucker holsters too - just avoid the ones with kydex clips.

Re: Glock 30SF IWB Holster Choices

I've been using the same Bladetech Kydex belt holster for about 8 years. I've drawn from that holster tens of thousands of times. I have had to tighten the retention screws a few times, but I've had no other issue with it. Perhaps not all Kydex holsters are created equal.

I carry it on Wilderness Tactical instructor belts, with 5 rows of stitching.

is another option. Good price, short wait, Nice designs. I have one ordered for my G22 and should be here in a week or so. But the ones that I have fondled were very impressive.

TTgunleather also makes some of the best stuff out there if you dont mind waiting a little bit longer. Jus dont skimp on the quality of your leather.

Re: Glock 30SF IWB Holster Choices

I like my Crossbreed. I have not had any trouble with the Kydex clips breaking. I cut away some of the leather to profile the grip of my Glock 27. Made draws alot quicker. I wear mine alot of time with just a T-shirt un-tucked and it covers real well. I have tried several others and certainly my favorite I have found yet. I like how the leather it large enough to keep the slide from digging in to my side. I believe the guy that makes them has good warranty as well.. Made in Republic, MO. -Brandon

Not to get off topic, but how secure do you find the clipdraw to be? Just curious..

On topic, I have a few Milt Sparks VM2s and find them to be the most comfortable holster I have ever used. Wait time is FOREVER but it's really a great product.

Very secure. I have no problem running a short distance with it either. I find it less bulky and thus easier to conceal also.

Re: Glock 30SF IWB Holster Choices

I use the Galco Stow N Go. It is very compact, and you can take it on and off easily. It secures over the belt, so it stays put when drawing. I also use the Blade-Tech Nano holster for my G29SF (same frame as G30), and it works nice.

Seems like a very simple design.. Do you worry about accidental trigger engagement w/o something to protect the trigger?
