Was surprised to hear at first but makes sense they redesigned the gun to not accept switches. Too many states and counties are suing glock because hood rats are shooting each other up with them.

Its pretty hilarious because anyone who has shot a FA glock knows its about the most uncontrollably thing you could shoot and you would be lucky to hit something 7 yards away. Even with a stock conversion the ROF is way too high.

Well that’s interesting.

Originally we were told that everything but the 43, 43X and 48 were going to be replaced.

The list of discontinued models on the page you linked does not list the Gen 5 G17 (other than the MOS) or Gen 5 G19 or the 17X or 19X.

I’m sure there are other current models that are not on that list, either.

This looks more like a consolidation than a response to commie state lawsuits.

I guess we will know what will continue to be available soon enough.

I worked a GSSF match 2 yrs ago and won a pistol in the raffle for volunteers. When I went to redeem it Glock USA said, "no G17 MOS under this certificate, and going forward there will be no G17 MOS only G47 MOS." Others told me that long-term G17 will be replaced by G47. But that's just words from Glock fans I know, the "no more G17" part.

Consolidation is always a smart move for a mfr. Sometimes too much choice overwhelms customers who come to you looking for a pistol. Glock navigates this to an extent with a sort of modularity. But I'd bet they would do fine with a simpler line of pistols like what CZ offers in polymer striker fired, P-10 series.

I offer this only as a point of clarification because this likely is very confusing for those that don't keep their ear to the ground on the Glock world but as one of the weirdo's that does allow me to help clarify...

The link you referenced actually points to the 'last' major announcement from Glock circa May/June timeframe of this year. That represented a huge reduction of their product line (somewhere in the 75-80% realm including most of their production of calibers outside of 9mm). This was a huge deal for the "Glockers" like me who care about these kind of nuances but to be fair for one to understand the situation (again May/June 2025) Glock was supporting their Gen 3 product line which is often attributed to them being on the California approved roster, 'most' of their Gen 4 line with the exception that of the few that were officially discontinued commercially they would manufacture for police/government sales, as well as their entire Gen 5 line. There's a whole discussion in this alone but that's the background on the list you referenced & you can see how large of a list that is & hopefully that puts it in context on where that came from.

Now that we're caught up on the list/what happened earlier this summer- what the OP (looks like he's on vacation again) is posting about is of the 20-25% of their product line remaining from the earlier cut- the remainder of the products they claimed made up most of their business was once again cut to only 3 models (the G43, G43X, & G48- and those models are important to note). For illustration/arguments sake- let's say April 2025 Glock was trucking along with 100 individual pistol models (each with their own unique SKU's to account for variances such as 10 round magazines/night sights/different trigger pulls/etc).

The announcement early this summer said that Glock was only going to manufacture 25 of the previous 100 models and "that's how it's going to be". So folks threw a "duck fit" (pun intended). Now this week a 3rd party leaked that out of the 25 models that Glock said they'd make they've again changed course less than 6 months later to only making 3 (so in a six month span we went from 100 to 3 models, kinda a big change).

We're not done- with what the OP is talking about, Glock customers are not only hearing from a 3rd party that they're discontinuing all but 3 but they're going to bring in a handful of "series 'v'" models in the interim without any context & (and this is very important to understanding the discussion) is all but immediately following legislation in California "banning Glocks/more realistically a certain striker fire design shared by but attributed to Glock" due to the rhetoric of a dreaded "Glock switch" which allowed gangs to convert their otherwise legal pistols into full auto due to some modification advertised as common as changing one's underpants.

So for the older to somewhat older age groups- if nothing else the perception is conjuring up very strong opinions of the 1994-2004 "assault rifle ban" bill passed by Clinton & there's a few companies that stood out during that timeframe. Granted they were ultimately businesses trying to stay in business but Bill Ruger collaborated with the Clinton Administration (aka the perceived enemy) and arguably turned their backs against their customer base to side with the Government, this was the timeframe that Smith & Wesson introduced the abomination often referenced as the "Hilary Hole" (note the timeframe to understand the terminology) above the cylinder release that still persists to this very day much to the chagrin of S&W fans, and when companies like Colt were changing the lowers on their AR's to be milled differently & use different/non-spec pins to be super sure that their "sporting rifle" couldn't be converted to a scary machine gun at the drop of a hat.

Or more recently- when Springfield Armory got caught colliding with Illinois to ensure their business survived at the expense of the other firearm businesses in the state.

I could keep going on but this post is already getting long in the tooth. So I'll stop there.

Hope that this was somewhat helpful to those confused & that took the time to read it. @Gasgun I know context & tone rarely comes through on forums but as I said- I don't mean anything personal to this response against you other than what I said about wanting to provide context because it's been a very confusing 6 months to sort out if you aren't "keen to the Glock scene" lately.
