Sidearms & Scatterguns Glocks and Berettas- Lifes Good

Re: Glocks and Berettas- Lifes Good

Iv heard you had to spend at least $900 to get a decent one. You might be able to spend less and get a decent one like a remington but I refuse to buy a 1911 thats not US made. Thats like buying a US flag from china. Its a historical pistol that made its mark in america and Im a stronger believer that it should be left here. I do want a decent one when the times right.

Re: Glocks and Berettas- Lifes Good

All three guns are great. If you are wanting to stick with the 9mm ammo, then you can also look into the various 9mm 1911 style guns out there.

Re: Glocks and Berettas- Lifes Good

Ill definitely look in to that thanks! It would be neat to get a 9mm 1911 within the next year then down the road a matching .45

Re: Glocks and Berettas- Lifes Good

I bought a Kimber and liked it. Bought a Beretta 92 and LOVED it. Sold the Kimber.
Not saying anything bad about 1911's, but everyone has their own personal preference. It's like ford vs chevy.

Re: Glocks and Berettas- Lifes Good

HAD the 92 fs inox, went down the road for a G17. still have my s & w 1911. Bought a G21, and will have to say, I like the glocks. they have shot everything accurately i have put in em. the 92 fs just wasnt my bag. felt comfy in the hands, but felt "cheap". i know, i know the glocks are poly. but, the 92fs i had in my head was going to be heavier beefier feeling. i was "surprised" you could say when i got it. for me, i just like the glocks. but i could see how people would like the 92 fs better.

Re: Glocks and Berettas- Lifes Good

I love the reliability and aiming of a glock and I like the low recoil and smooth firing of a 92. Havent tested reliaiblity on a 92 but Im assuming they are good since the armed forces use them

One thing to keep in mind and I am sure more people can pipe in on this but a lot of major 1911 makers such as springfield have their recievers macined in brazil so even a big name brand 1911 likely isnt us made if you want an authentic US made gun your best bet would be doing your research and either getting a very high end pistol from a custom shop that machines their own frames or getting an older pistol that was made before us companies started outsourcing their major components.

I saw a Dan Wesson for $1150 today that is probably a decent 1911, but I would stick with the $1600 Baer as a guaranteed quality 1911 pistol.

Re: Glocks and Berettas- Lifes Good

I have more Glocks, Berettas, and 1911s than I know what to do with. All of them are great. The Glock in 9 is an absolute classic. It is a soft shooter with more accuracy than most people will ever be able to use.

The Beretta is a great design that has served our military well. I have several that I use in Service Pistol competition. They can be made to shoot outstanding scores at the 50 yard line. The AMU and Marines can do some amazing things with them.

The 1911 is a classic. In 9mm, it is my favorite gun to shoot. That steel just soaks up the recoil. Shooting hundreds of rounds in a very limited time is as easy as any pistol work there is.

There are good 1911s made all over this world. The Norinco from China is a really good one. Good ones are coming from the Philippines as well. If you get one, go with a classic series 70 design.

Some Springer models are made in US, you have to look at the markings. If it says NM it is made in USA, it should have import markings if frames are imported from Brazil. Like STI Spartans, they have Phillipino stamps and importer markings.

Colts are made here, but I'd obviously take a Kimber. Dan Wesson is the best bet from $1,000 until you get to Les Baer, Wilson Combat, Nighthawk Custom level.

Anyone have a high round count 92FSA1? I've heard they changed the recoil spring system and I'm interested to hear if they've had reliability issues. I've got 2 92FS's and I wouldn't hesitate to buy a 3rd, but I'd let others test the 92FSA1 for a year or 2 before i bought...

Re: Glocks and Berettas- Lifes Good

If you already like the Glock and want to stay with the 9mm, why not a Glock 34?

If you haven't tried one, check out the S&W M&P Pro series. They have a 5" model, comes with warren sights.

STI's are nice if you have the money. I highly recommend having Dawson Precision do the tuning if you order one.

If you have money rolling out of your ears, you could always have and SV Infinity built. Have you seen some of their new stuff? Check out their website. Seriously its extravagant.

Yea, they've really upped the bar. The options they have for the front sight are sick. The center of the slide stays with the barrel, and the rest of the slide moves back.....freakin' wicked lookin'....
