Do you have a time or times in your life that stand out as your favorite??
This was one of mine

I miss these times. I will never be able to ride at that level again. Body cant take it

For you young bucks, relish the things that you can do now. Enjoy them to the fullest.
They dont last forever and there will be things that you love that will slowly fade to black.

I am not living in the past. I am still riding and grateful to be. . Just cant do the stuff that I used to do.which brought an incredible amount of enjoyment. Same with kayaking.
You have to enjoy it while you have it. There will be a day you will be to old to shoot let alone compete.
.

I know, i am not as young as i used to be either. Just your title and old pictures reminded me of Bruce Springsteen's song "Glory Days" which was Jim's song and his nick name. So then I thought of him. He would always talk about his high school baseball career. He was well into his 40's.(was in his 60's on that fateful day). As far as the murder suicide there was a lot more to it as both his son and wife were terminally ill.
i just figured i would shit on your parade for a second.

Those too were great times. I was racing back then 125 and 400 Maico. Seems like we were indestructible. in those days. Crash hard get up check the bike, walk it off race some more.
It should be taught in school. Instead of track and field it should just be a track !!

What are you riding now??

Screw Springsteen. He's a hypocritical fargin lefty. 2ndFan, for your own good please go wash your mind out with soap.

I used to think of the Joe Jackson song "19 Forever". I was gorgeous and strange beautiful women I had never met used to walk up to me, hand me their phone number, and beg me to call them.

Now we all like to blow smoke here. But that is actually the 100% truth. It is the sort of thing the vast majority of guys can only dream about.

Today, I've got nerve damage to both hands and arms and my spinal cord is squished in two different places. A trip to Costco can lead to an agonizing period of recovery. I actually look great still -- but only because I've got lucky genes. I hurt almost all the time.

I'm in my fifties. I need reading glasses for up close (still 20/20 just past my arm). Everything is slower to heal. Even a sprained finger or pulled muscle.

I am still with my one and only wife.

But these are, without a doubt, the best days of my life.

YMMV.

I'd have to say the entire year of when I was 13 years old. Great times. Looking back now it's a wonder I'm still alive.

Dude, who the fuck hits their prime at 13? I'm actually not shitting on you, I've just got to know what you could've possibly been doing at 13 that made that year your glory days.

You couldn't have had a sweet ride.
You couldn't have been hitting the clubs and partying.
If you'd met the love of your life you still didn't truly understand what that means at that age.
If you were a star athlete it wasn't even at the High School level

Even if you were fucking supermodels every day at 13, you wouldn't have been good at it.

Please, sincerely, help me understand what I missed at 13

Going into a tuck at the top of a three-mile ski run and keeping it until the end.

Later in life, living through yet another damn hurricane with green water coming over the flight deck.

Maser, didn't you first sign up here on the Hide when you were 13?
I know he had a lot of fun trolling here (don't think a thing has changed in all this time). And I'm pretty sure he made some guys want to kill him.
So that might explain his post.
Sure, he would probably say he was just trolling again. But it may be that it's been downhill from there. And those were his salad days.
Some guys who were kings in junior high never quite grow into high school and wind up being the shrimps pushed in the mud on rainy days.
We should all applaud Maser for having the strength to reveal so much.

Not my very best day since then, but certainly the best day up to that point in my young life. I had survived several days of straight fighting, didn't lose a man during that few days (medic) and was waiting for a re-supply chopper. We received a duffle bag full of ice chunks and soda/beer, and a mix of C rats and LLRP meals, along with mail.
We went on to more fighting, and eventually one of the men in this photo was to fall, on Hamburger Hill. Of the others, I have been able to locate them all but one. Heady days of high adventure, grueling combat, and small joys.
Since those days, I have had many glory days. Days measured by accomplishments, victories, pride in the accomplishments of those I was privileged to tutor/mentor, and the sense of accomplishment in a job well done, or a bad day survived.
Some people still walk because of my efforts, I take some pride in that.
Much of what I would describe as Glory Days had more to do with who I was with, and what we were doing together. The team in a steaming jungle, the team in a busy ER, my partner in a river rescue, or on a steep ground evac. or the small and great adventures my wife of 43 years and I have shared. A good life to look back on.

Much of my scar tissue was earned in motocross and half mile. It was worth it! Husky 125, Pursang 250, Astro 360. (Long, long ago)

Those scars wear well don't they. I would rather have them then never have had the chance to earn them. With those scars come a lot of victories.
