Glove options?

Now that winter is upon us I think I really need some gloves. I don't normally wear them because of the feeling I lose. I have a thin pair of synthetic gloves that I got at REI, I think they are to be worn under thicker gloves, but alone they are really warm and all I need. The problem is that they are slippery and it's hard to hold onto anything.

Are there any gloves out there that are of heavy material and somewhat thin? I used to own a pair of Oakley gloves and I remember they had this kevlar reinforcement on the palm and two fingers, it would be awesome to find a pair of gloves made of just that.

I would say REI is a good place to start. Thier house brand "Novara" full finger mountain biking gloves are great and realatively cheap. I use them for just about everything... Riding, shooting, wrenching, hiking, running, and everyday wear. They have good grip, excellent dexterity, block the wind and you can feel the trigger through them... Not to mention they have held up extremely well.
