Any body have a positive experience with any rangefinder thats under $200 ? I see a lot that even hover around $100

I Just need something to set up targets out to 1100 yds. Its ok if it only goes up to 800 or so , I can just walk to the max and range again to find the rest (I'm cheap, not lazy). I may use it for hunting , but I doubt Id ever take a shot past 600 yds and it would be at varmint at that .

Thanks for any and all input

I think that you are going to have a difficult time finding a LRF that can shoot out to 1100 yards reliably and cost under $200. Most of the rangefinders that are in that sub-$200 price range have a range of about 500 yards and so-so quality.

For about $300 dollars though the Bushnell Legend 1200 ARC isn't bad. I looked through a friends at a match and hitting a hillside at 900 yards wasn't too hard.

Re: GOOD CHEAP RANGEFINDER ??

I got my Bushnell Elite 1500 brand new for like $279 and i love it. Never have trouble getting a return, it has modes for ranging targets, brush or game. Like others said, it might be hard getting a decent one for out to 1,000 yards for under the $200 unless you go used.

Re: GOOD CHEAP RANGEFINDER ??

I got my Bushnell 850 for $80 bucks used. For its price, so far so good. Doesn't have any problems ranging up to about 500. From there its hit or miss.. It will range many things up to 700-800( different colored dirt mounds and such) no problem and almost instantly, but other things it won't do no matter what. Highest I've had it range something is 920 or something like that, and it was again almost instant with no problems. Basically up to 500 its not picky, but its usable to 900 with CERTAIN things.

This is all holding it in my hand and not on a tripod,so if it was steady maybe it would do better.

Ive got a Bushnell ARC 1000 off of Optics planet for @250...a good deal since this little device can actually bet set to your specific cartridge.

Thats what I was thinking. You always get the post for the best cheap scope, best cheap rifle and in the end they are two miles apart.

Re: GOOD CHEAP RANGEFINDER ??

Laser rangefinders have come along way....just like most electronic equipment these days (computers, TV's, laptops)

You can get a quality rangefinder for $200 bucks...if you want alot of features on it then you are looking at 250-300.

Or, you can spend 1K+ and get something you will never use the full capability of. All you need is the distance to target and a dope sloper and you have all the info you need. The rest is a math equation to get your dope right.

Re: GOOD CHEAP RANGEFINDER ??

you are going to be much better off to spend a little extra now and get something of quality rather than replace it in a few years. if you watch ebay you can find a Leica 1200 lrf for around $300 or maybe a 900 for even less.
