Ok so hopefully at the beginning of next month I'm heading out to do some ladder testing and load development..

I was planning on taking my reloading equipment with me in the truck and loading up some loads after my ladder test and hopefully get it all done in one day. The press does fine I have already loaded 100 rounds on it already and the stand holds up nice. I was going to set it up but im too lazy to screw it in and pull it out of the closet.

(Yes I plan on taking the tv off and movies out lol)

I have a old TV stand I drilled some holes into and use that for my new reloading bench after moving out of my last place. Haven't gotten a reloading/gun bench build in my garage yet. And a old thermal Imaging system hard case I fit all of my loading gear in. Press doesn't fit in box but its not exactly fragile.

Is there anything wrong with that thought or should that be Good to go??

Also For my ladder test im going to do it out at 300 yards...
I have a like 4'x3' cardboard target. Is that over kill or will I see that much rise from the higher velocities. I plan on either zeroing some 43g loads for my zero (Doing a 41gr to 45g test from a 20" 700 with 175g SMK/Varget)

Re: Good Idea??

Back in the day, I had all my stuff mounted on a 3 foot chunk of 2x12. I'd set it on top of a storage chest, and sit on the floor to load. Worked OK.
The only thing I would worry about with the TV stand is rigidity. The top is probably particle board, and will probably flex. You might consider sandwiching a pice of 3/4" plywood in when you bolt the press down, to spread the load over a wider area.

More than enough is fine for this but you should see about 4-8 inches of change at 300.

I agree with above on your stand, it would benifit from some more wood and a 2x4 or plywood across the top would work fine.

Re: Good Idea??

Alright thanks.. I put some hardened washers about an inch round on top and bottom.. I dont see any stress fractures.. But Ill keep that in mind if I see or hear any cracks starting..

Hopefully by then Ill have a better reloading bench.

Re: Good Idea??

i had thought about making a mount to slide into my reese hitch for my rockshucker make a loading table and shooting bench at the same time just havent done it yet.

Re: Good Idea??

Alright cool. Yea I figured it would work but I wasnt sure if something about loading out side was a bad thing or not or not recommended or something
