Hey everybody, FNG from Oklahoma here. I just picked up a Savage 10FCP with a 26" barrel in the Choate tactical stock. I've been thinking about having the barrel cut down to 20" and threaded for a brake/suppressor. On my Fulton Armory M21, I have a Good Iron USCG muzzle brake installed, and I couldn't be happier with it. Recoil with the 7.62 was never a problem, but being able to see hits and quickly reacquire the target are a definite plus. Now I want one for my Savage and I've been looking at the brakes available, and I can't find anything I like as well as the USCG unit. I don't care for their standard 30 cal brake because it has a clunky barrel adapter built in. I see that GI now offers their much cleaner looking 5.56/.30cal M4 style brake with 5/8-24 threads and an OD of.905". I like this unit over others because the gas ports are only on the top and sides, and are very thoughtfully laid out to eliminate muzzle rise. That and it doesn't look like it belongs on the front of an Abrams. What are your thoughts on using this brake on my Savage?
