Hi guys, I'm new to reloading and don't even know all the components that I need to buy. Can someone please recommend a GOOD reloading book that also has info for the .338 lapua. I plan on using Berger bullets with h1000 and Rutumbo powder.

Grizzdude,

You might check out the various websites of the component makers you'd like to use (Hodgdon, Hornady, Sierra, etc.), as many of them post reloading data online. I didn't mention Berger, because I know they don't have load data posted on their site, but they have sent out their data in the past. They just introduced their first reloading manual, but I assume that policy will still be in effect.

Data for the Vihtavuori line (to include a full spread for the 338 Lapua) can be found on our website, www.lapua.com, under the reloading section of the pull-down menu.

Both Retumbo and H1000 are excellent choices for the 338 Lapua, and give very good accuracy. The round itself is very easy to load, and behaves a lot like an oversized 308 Win; not at all tempermental, and shoots well with a fairly broad band of charge weights. Great round, and I'm sure you'll enjoy!

I've loaded over 6K rounds of 338LM over the last seven years or so. I agree 100% with Kevin Thomas. I've used RL 25, VV 560,VV24N41, US 869, H50BMG, H1000 and Retumbo for 4 different sticks. I've found my best results have been with Hodgdon powders. I was a big RL25 user but found it very inconsistent batch to batch.

Bullets are another matter. I had no luck with Bergers in 338LM.And that was in GAP chambered tubes both in my McMillan TAC338 and my AIAW. My best results have been with Lapua Scenars or Lockbases at ranges out to 1400 yards.

Lapua cases are worth the money too! Best of luck, there are many good loads listed on this site too.
