Good Root Beer?

we are talking root beer not Jambalaya.
Best I ever had came from a small town beer brewery back home. They would sell if by the growler and bring an hour away from home meant I was filling up every chance I had.

Pappy's sassafras tea concentrate. Mix it by the glass or by the pitcher. Root beer used to contain sassafras till our government thought it wasn't safe for us. Try some you will be pleasantly surprised.
I've found that a shot of Jeager, a shot of Copper and Kings Absinthe, and fill with IBC tastes damn good, nice root beer, no crap flavor like 'not your dad's' stuff, and it has that good ol liquor kick at 140p
Anchor ginger rootbeer is great.
Cicero beverage Co salted Caramel is really good.
These 2 are currently my favorites.
Also agree with anything virgils. Their Bavarian is really good.
Wbc, Romano, Carusos, and Stubborn soda have lots of good sodas.

Saint Arnold rootbeer out of Houston is also good.
This is coming from somebody that has had about 300 different sodas since summer 2011.
Natural brew draft rootbeer is nasty.

I grabbed a 6pack of Freddie's while at Buffalo Trace a few weeks ago. Its pretty damn good. Awesome story to. Buffalo Trace named it after Freddie Johnson, their head tour and tasting guide as an honor to him for being inducted into the Bourbon hall of fame.

Virgil's I use to drink almost daily, went a few months without it for whatever reason and I tried some the next summer and ever since then I've hated it. It's like my taste buds completely changed.
In that time I got serious with cooking and developed my palate a lot so my only guess is that's what happened, I like foods now I use to not so who knows. But two years ago I'd have said Virgil's hands down, now I don't even buy it.

I live about 5 miles from the Saranac Brewing Company. They have tours of the plant, and your able to try 2 of any product they make. Tasting the fresh Saranac rootbeer is the best!
