I have done lots of reading here an perhaps I have read too much and over complicated things. Can you help me sort things out?

I want a decent long range scope. Below are my requirements:

MOA: I am used to MOA and would prefer to stick with it. I also prefer the .26 in adjustments over the .36 in.

SFP: If I need to range targets, I figure I can do this at full magnification or half mag and do the simple math. I am open to FFP if the reticle doesn't get too big at full magnification.

Variable Power: I want to shoot out to 1000 yards with my 7mm Mag, but may occasionally use it for hunting or 200-300 yard shooting.

Parallax Adjustment:
Good Glass:
Durable:
Repeatable Results:

I would like to keep the cost under $1200. I am aware of the Vortex PST scopes. What else would you recommend? Are there better options given my requirements?

Thanks...

Re: Good SFP long Range Scope?

Look at the Sightron SIII 6.5-24X50 LRMD or one of the newer moa/moa models. I have one for the last year and no problem out to 1100 yrds. I currently am using a Leupold Mk 4 ER/T 6.5-20X50ffp and I would say that the Sightron glass is as good or slightly better. 100moa of adjustment both elevation and windage and nice turrets. Bought the Leupold for ffp and tmr reticle, not because I was in any way unhappy with the Sightron. If they sold a comparable to the Leupold, I would own two Sightron's

Re: Good SFP long Range Scope?

Not that its a deal breaker, but do the Sightron SIII have reticle illumination? I checked their website and illumination isn't mentioned.

Thanks for the suggestions regarding the cheaper Nightforce scopes. They seem to have good points and bad, for my requirements.

At this point, I am leaning towards the Vortex SFP 6-24x 50mm or the Sightron SIII 6-24x 50mm. It doesn't look like anyone has these in stock, so I have a little time to mull things over still.

Thanks...

Re: Good SFP long Range Scope?

I think FFP is a great way to go. Not only is the reticle always the same for ranging, it also can be used at all powers for elevation and wind holds, no math required.

I was in your shoes earlier this year, and went with the Vortex PST FFP. The FFP reticle is only .04 mils thick. In other words it covers 0.144 inches at 100 yards, and 1.44 inches of your target at 1000 yards.

Re: Good SFP long Range Scope?

Well, I went ahead and ordered a Sightron SIII 6-24x 50mm LRMOA scope.

Thank you to everyone that replied. I appreciate the input.

I have a Tikka T3 Lite rifle with the tapered barrel. No one had Tikka 30mm Rings in stock locally, so I had to order the rings. Hopefully I got the right height. I ordered Warne Tikka Highs.

If I got the right rings, I should be able to test things out this weekend.

For a few hundred more, you won't regret it. NF is best bang for buck in any model. IMHO.

Yet people are still responding with scope suggestions...
You should love the SIII, I love mine, excellent clarity for the coin.
