New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
I happened across one of these on clearance (a steal) from Cabelas in Billings, Its just what I've been wanting for my five year old son Ridley. Its a great place to start I think. Cricket EX17HMR. He's a happy boy!
As soon as he was physically big enough he wanted to come along, he would n't let me leave the house. He always wants to go camping, hunting and anything in the mountains. Shooting was never a big deal to him, the noise never bothered him, and one day I asked him if he wanted to shoot my .308(subsonics) he jumped at the chance. Now he wants to go hunting, he's been along on several antelope and deer hunts, he does great considering his age. He's hiked a mile or two along side us looking for deer and never complains. I cant wait till he gets older! Now that he has a rifle of his own, I'm looking forward even more to our father son outings into the high mountains nearby, rock chucks will be coming out soon, and what a better way to start out a hunting career?
Great stuff! I've been an NRA rifle instructor since I was 14 (well, apprentice at that point, actually) and love it when I see kids getting involved. I consider the times I've taken a "zero-exposure" student and taught them enough to score hits consistently to be the finest moments in my shooting career.
