I just have to share this. Very excited about getting it back from the smith.
I'll try and remember the details.

It's shooting lapua brass, CCI 450's, 130gr VLD's over 39gr of varget. Loves this load.

Rem 700 SA
Kreiger 25" 1-9 twist sendaro contour.
Jewell hvr
nightforce 5.5-22, ring and bases as well.
us optics hinged bubble level.
Manners mcs-t5a with the digital camo paint job
Manners/badger mcs-dbm mini chassis
PTG bolt, with all the goodies done to it.
threaded 5/8x24 for TI gemtech sandstorm suppressor.

Smithed by Shawn Thomason in Craigmont, ID

think that's most of it. the farthest I've shot it was 1480yds and that was today. That's a little far for this little guy. It's almost transonic at that point. But it's shooting excellent to around 1000-1100. So much fun to shoot after shooting my bigger guns all the time. You don't need ear protection and it's easy to spot your own hits. this thing is a blast! thanks for looking, i just had to share

Re: Got my new 6.5x47 back!! PICS

right at 3k fps. i pushed them a little faster with no pressure signs, but accuracy was great where I settled.

it's not as fun shoot guns that are not suppressed once you go down that road. just makes it that much more enjoyable/comfortable.

Nice rifle, I have to ask too many questions..

You said you where shooting over 1100 yards, What range finder where you using?

Do you have a picture of the target that you shot at that distance? I just wanted to see the grouping at that distance.

How heavy is your rifle with the suppressor and bidpod?

Last question, whats the diameter of your barrel?

Re: Got my new 6.5x47 back!! PICS

Really nice lookin rifle - did you pick up the Manner's yourself or through your Smith.?? Looking into a T4A possibly.

Powder(s) used?? Any recs on a real stable powder for the 65x47L, going from -30 up Nort to 110 down Sout.

Re: Got my new 6.5x47 back!! PICS

Wolf22,I also use varget in my 6.5x47. Thats about as temp. stable powder as you're going to get. Varget has worked well with both the 123 scenar and the 130 jlk.

Great looking 6.5x47 by the way. You are going to love it.

Re: Got my new 6.5x47 back!! PICS

thanks for all the comments guys. having a blast with it. the only bad news is i just had to send the stock back to manners to get the badger EFR installed, so i can run my NV on it.

no, i was shooting a rock that was 8"x8". I will have some paper targets soon, but the place i was shooting it was too much work to get paper set up, ie..looong walk

If you don't mind me asking what is you C.O.L. for the Lapua and the 130 VLD's. I have been thinking about trying those in my 6.5x47. Here some people are having great luck with them.

sorry, but i have wanted NV for almost 5 yrs, and now i finally have it. kind of excited, and it's fun to share with people that are into the same things i am.

Re: Got my new 6.5x47 back!! PICS

No worries, I'm just glad the x47 is starting to catch on. I just past the 2500 round mark on my x47 and its still hammering the 130 jlk's. I'm only pushing them to 2815 fps from a 22 inch barrel.

When I eventually do get my NV up and running, I am hoping to rain hell on my feral hog problem.

no, went over 40gr with no pressure signs but accuracy was better at 39gr.

thanks for all the comments guys.

stock was painted by the guy that paints for manners. sorry, i can't remember his name off the top of my head.

Re: Got my new 6.5x47 back!! PICS

Todd Jackson.

Great looking rifle.

A word of warning. Don't start with 39 gr. of Varget behind a 130 gr. bullet. Must be a mild lot of Varget. Both my 6.5 x 47 Lapuas show pressure in the 37 gr. range. One 9 twist and one 8.
Just my .02.

Re: Got my new 6.5x47 back!! PICS

37.8 grains of varget nets me 2815ish, with the 130 jlk, from my 22 inch barrel. My coal is 2.81. This is a pretty mild load, and I have gone up to almost 39 grains. I just figured 2800 would be plenty of speed for what I am doing, and I might be able to extend the barrel life a little. Also something else of note. After more than 8 firings on some of my brass, I have still not had to trim. I wasted money getting my giraud set up for the 6.5x47.

thanks for posting a warning, i probably should have done that.
what are the pressure signs you are seeing? curious..

Re: Got my new 6.5x47 back!! PICS

After doing the OCW test on both rifles the center of the accuracy node was 37.3 gr. for the 9 twist and 37.5 gr. for the 8 twist. I started getting sticky bolt lift, ejector marks on the brass and the primers were getting flat (sharp outer edges) when I got closer to 38 gr. I was loading for both rifles out of the same 8# jug. I am getting 2950 fps with both rifles with suppressors. As stated I think my Jug of Varget may be on the hot side. When I open a new jug I will chronograph and whatever charge weight gives me 2950 thats where I will stop. I have been shooting this velocity in both rifles over various temps. at distance and it has been very consistent.

I think to many shooters get hung up on a "magic" charge weight.
When I find the velocity that gives me the consistency I'm looking for I load to that velocity and don't care about the charge weight.
