got my wisdoms pulled today

Re: got my wisdoms pulled today

It really isn't that bad. When I had mine done, all I remember is the doctor asking me if I knew any dirty jokes. I woke up with a mouth full of cotton trying to think of a dirty joke.

As long as you don't get a dry socket, it's no big deal.

Re: got my wisdoms pulled today

If you have to rinse, mix 1 tea spoon of salt in a glass of warm water and rinse with that. Sounds weird, but trust me, it helps with the pain. I had all 4 of mine pullled at once and it was the worst pain I have ever been in.

Re: got my wisdoms pulled today

For a time you don't want to rinse, spit or otherwise prevent the formation of a good clot in each socket. Doing things to disrupt or even prevent this can contribute to the development of a dry socket and or infection and thus delayed healing.

I just took out a molar on a patient 2 minutes ago....

Get this stuff done when you are young if you need it...

I had one calcify to my jaw bone that was partially impacted and ended up getting it sawed and chiseled out when I was 35. I knew about it for 12 years and was warned about waiting too long with this one. I had a dry socket that also became infected. I was sick as a dog for a week. And I still got a hole where the tooth had been that's troublesome at times... 18 years later

ya he is right..... i was soooo freaking scard, i got in their and the worst part was getting a needle in the roof of my mouth, he dosent bust them out like you would think, he goes in with this thing it looks like a punch its vary thin and he gets under the tooth and just pops it out... yes i hurd the tooth break loose but the just poped out all but one tooth its roots where hooked like the letter J that tooth he had to cut in half and pull out with these things that look like plyers but they are cuped to fit around the tooth.... all in all it went well..... then after that the numbness of your lips and toung bother you because you cant spit

so my words of advice, go home and go to bed so the numbness goes away... my numbness just went away and i feel great all but where he poked me in the roof of my mouth

now iam singing and danceing lol well not singing but i can talk normal now.... guess iam going to reload all day hhahaha

Re: got my wisdoms pulled today

I can't remember exactly how long it took to recover, maybe two or three weeks.

Don't do any vigorous rinsing for at least a week. Try to avoid eating foods that will become packed in the holes and would need rinsing.

Re: got my wisdoms pulled today

iam mainly drinking milk eating ice cream and pudding lol.... and reloading bullets, waiting on my new locking rollers to come for my msg90 clone, realling hoping that fixes the accuracy... the head space was almost nonexisting ( .003 )

stay tooned to the semi auto section i have a great msg90 sling adapter that i will be posting soon... i think you will all love it

Re: got my wisdoms pulled today

I remember when I had mine done.. It sucks major ass. Of course they tried to knock me out to do it but couldnt so I was awake through the entire thing. They told me they pumped me full of enough drugs to knock someone out 2x my size for 2 solid days. They finally ended up giving me approximately 25-30 shots of Novocain and there were times when I had to tell them to shoot me up again because I could start feeling what they were doing. After it was done, I walked out to the car on my own 2 feet and got driven home and only ended up sleeping for about 6hrs total.

I think it has to do with the nerves in your head and how it reacts faster and you feel more of the pain. The resident dentist would know more then me. But yeah, do not use cold water when rinsing out the food it's a very sharp shooting pain. I know it brought me to tears when I did it ONCE. But if you are into that kind of thing, have at it.

Rinse it well because that shit will start to smell really bad if you don't.

Exactly!!! A man has to have priorities!

Black_Ump,

Just don't be too vigorous with the swishing and you'll be fine. Like said above, warm salt water is the shit, do it gently 4 to 5 times daily starting tomorrow or 24hrs from time of extractions. Also tonight before bedtime start 600mg of ibuprofen every 6hrs for 2 or 3 days religiously and you will have a lot less discomfort.

Re: got my wisdoms pulled today

I had mine done a few years ago - it's easy -

Dull ache, didn't take painkillers just motrin.

You get an IV, you sleep, you wake up, you go homne, you sleep and then wake up. Just a dull throbbing, it was less traumatic than having the top two just yanked out with pliers..(Or whatever my dentist used)..

It's easy enough...

Re: got my wisdoms pulled today

I had one take out to make room for my Invisalign braces. They knocked me out, then I work up in the middle of the procedure only to be knocked back out. I barely remember being wheeled to the truck to go home. After waking up I was perfectly fine except for the cotton ball stuck in my mouth. No pain or discomfort other then having to rinse out the cut couple times a day.
