Today my wife gave me my birthday present early (guess she just couldn't wait any longer).

Thanks to a good friend, earlier this year I got a chance to sit and BS with Chuck Mawhinney. It wasn't just a handshake like you get at the gunshows. We actually got to sit and drink beer and meet the family and whatnot. He is a hell of a nice guy. While I was talking to him I got to see one of the prints that Micheal Wooten did of Chuck in Vietnam. I figured it would be a real nice addition to my den at home.

When I got back from that trip I jumped on Micheal Wooten's website and ordered one. Shortly thereafter I got an email from Mr. Wooten that due to some family problems he was unable to continue to sell the prints and did not know when he would be able to start again (if ever). I spent a month trying to track one down with no luck. Everyone on the web that listed them just ordered them from Mr. Wooten himself and shipped them. No one had them in stock......I thought.

I called my buddy and got Chuck's phone number and I was going to call him and see if he had any left. Things got shifted around here and I put it on the back burner. I just figured the next time I saw Chuck I would mention it.

Flash forward to today. My wife hands me one of those big tubular mailer things. I open it and see that beautiful print. Not only was it signed in the lower right like all the other prints, but there was a personal inscription from Chuck in the lower left corner.

I can't wait to get it framed and hang it on the wall. This will be the second military print my wife has gotten me. The first was the Dick Kramer print "The Grunt" it is also personally inscribed.

I just thought I would share my joy at a woman who at least understands my madness.

If you don't know, here is the print I am talking about:

Re: Greatest wife in the world?

That's very cool. I've shaken Chuck's hand at SHOT and told him thank you for his service. That's neat you got to BS with him, what stories I'm sure he could tell.

When you frame it make sure it's done with all acid free paper, mat board, whatever you have done, or else it'll start turning yellow over the years. Also if it'll be around florescent lighting make sure the glass blocks whatever it is that comes off those bulbs. I don't think it's UV rays but something similar to that I was told from a lady who frames the stuff that's special to me.

It'll cost a little more, but who cares on a deal like this.

Very cool. I have #242 I got from Chuck at SHOT a couple of years ago. The wife was with me and allowed the purchase.

Mines got the personal inscription also. Makes it much nicer. We got to hang with him and his wife at the show and later that night at the Badger/GAP party and have some beers. I actually still have a plastic Bud beer bottle he gave me from his cooler at the SHOT show itself when we had a beer together at the show. Stupid I know but I think it's kind of cool so I took it home with me. He's a really cool guy and a hell of a memory as the next year at SHOT he remembered my name. I usually forget names within about 10 minutes LOL

You got a good one there. Don't let her go. I'm holding on to mine too

She actually likes to go to SHOT. LOL

Re: Greatest wife in the world?

Doesn't matter if it's 1000 of 1000 as it's still personally inscribed and really cool.

Re: Greatest wife in the world?

Very special lady to go to those lengths to make you happy. Congratulations!
Chuck is a true gentleman and a hell of a nice man.
Can't wait to see him next year at SHOT!

Nice!!! If you ever get a chance to sit and BS with Chuck over a couple beers and BBQ I'd highly recommend it.I was fortunate enough to see him at a advanced school I attended several years ago (range is in his backyard). He's generous enough to stop by offer some help and throw some food on the BBQ at his place. The slideshow he put up on his garage wall left my jaw on the ground after he explained the photos.Great Guy Great American Sniper!!
